Happy New Year 2020 ♥️

It was a very challenging start to the year for my country; my mum and dad were told to evacuate, roads were closed to them. They came out of the threat safely. Shaken, but fine. Others not so fortunate lost so much, their lives, their livelihoods, their homes, their past. The threat passed for my parents, but so many and so much were not as lucky. And my heart bleeds for all those precious, beautiful animals that perished in the unforgiving fires. Vast tracts of land went up in smoke in the land down under, and so much more in the intense flames.

I wish you all, my very best wishes for 2020, with much love! Thank you to all my special SL and Flickr friends for your well wishes, and thoughts and prayers,

Westside. This used to be the entrance side untill the 19th century. Unbelievable nowadays. There must have been decoration (like on the east side) but the wind from the coast has worn it off. Look closely now. In the centre of this photo stands a sheepdog. The classic stance shoulders dipped, hind quarters arched, perfectly still, waiting and ready for the next explosive reaction to whatever. A sheep to break, a ball is thrown, always ready, it’s what it lives for. These dogs work hard, play hard and if they don’t flop on the mat with every ounce of energy used from that last outing you are doing them an injustice. A small home not far from where I live has two young border collies, they are an unruly handful. The lady who takes them for their tethered walk each day is pulled for pillar to post. Have had this image bouncing around in my head for a while now, just needed the right sky, so I could start work on it.

Got the sky last Sat morning over at Long Reef, and started working on the image last night.

So, the final image is a three shoot, three image blend / composite.

The pillars and waterfall were shot at Bombo last September, The foreground flow and that rock in the middle was shot at Coalcliff two weeks ago, and as mentioned earlier, the sky was shot at Long Reef Sat.

I wanted the final image to be apopalyptic and have a dangerous mood and feel to it.

I'm happy enough with how it turned out.

Onto the next bouncy image now....

One of the worst exampleles of the reconstruction of the historical buildings during the 00's. It was upbuilt by two additional floors and the facade was chanded as much as it's impossible to recognise the old building in it. The building is considered to be the prototpe of Bolkonsky-the-father's mansion from Tolstoi's War and Peace. And in real life it was the mansion of Tolstoi's grandfather - the general Nikolai Volkonsky.
