This is maybe the closest I got to him that day. I might have one or two more shots right around this grid that are equally close, but for all intents and purposes, this is the closest I got. He's very pretty. It's interesting how his "look" changes with my change in angle, especially with the expression in his eyes. This photo is also part of a photo series that tells the visual story of my engagement with birds in the park garden where I live. Each photo in the series contributes meaning and significance to the story. Be sure to check out the "The Birds 5.2.14" album located below, for the "full story". If photos are viewed individually and

"out of context", their meaning and significance will be lost on you. © Maria Dorothea Campbell 2014

If I had been even this close to this monster, I would've been nervous! This was by far the largest alligator that I've seen yet. If I had to guess, I'd say it was close to 12 feet long. It was also the fattest and oldest looking one I saw.

At first, I thought this was a downed palm tree, because the color and shape of the scales looked so much like a palm, and I wondered if I was wasting my time taking pics of a log! I was pleased to discover that it really was a gator after I got home and cropped the shot!

I found many icicles on that winter but no one like this. If you wonder what is that red tube... well are LED Christmas Lights decoration connected between two boutiques. #GettingCloser #FlickrFriday

Tried some macro. I used to think this is boring, but today I enjoyed.

Shimen Reservoir opened main gates because of typhoon Wipha. Photo taken on the road where you usually can drive pass below the dam. Road was closed as the water was shoting over it.

Seamus and Shortbread are so excited! Today they were able to move into their new place and start unloading supplies. Maybe tomorrow--at least sometime this week anyway--they will get to make their Big Announcement.

While listening to iTunes -> Radio -> Jazz -> "Smoothbeats.com Nu Jazz" I heard "Getting Closer" by Hird. Turned my day around. Somewhat. Too many losses, still.

Here in my garden, love of solitude grows side-by-side with longing, delight, shyness, wonder, and bewilderment. They all share a bed.
