Getting Closer is an iPhone application created by Eitan Isaacson and Jenny Asarnow.

You can only hear what you hear right here, where you hear it. Getting Closer virtually embeds sounds in the landscape with GPS.

In Baltimore, Seattle, and coming soon to Chicago - open it up to follow your ears, and go on a romantic journey. Getting Closer will tell you which way to go: listen carefully.

There were still some carrots crowing in the garden of this house when we moved in last December. We let one go to seed – and here they are.

(Adjusted in Picnik.)

I was going to write something here...but it doesn't really matter...what matters is that I know it within myself...

(addendum...at the end of the day...I really don't know anything...)

strobist-ism: 540ez(1/8p) behind camera pointed at white ceiling. 540ez(1/16) to camera right on floor thru white umbrella also on the floor.

Building on yesterday's picture based on inspiration from Chuck Close (yes, there's a small pun...uh...reference in the title) and the Benetton head shots that were prominent in their stores a few years ago.

It's 365 Self Portraits, Strobist Style!

This is maybe the closest I got to him that day. I might have one or two more shots right around this grid that are equally close, but for all intents and purposes, this is the closest I got. He's very pretty. It's interesting how his "look" changes with my change in angle, especially with the expression in his eyes. This photo is also part of a photo series that tells the visual story of my engagement with birds in the park garden where I live. Each photo in the series contributes meaning and significance to the story. Be sure to check out the "The Birds 5.2.14" album located below, for the "full story". If photos are viewed individually and

"out of context", their meaning and significance will be lost on you. © Maria Dorothea Campbell 2014
