AI generated - no Camera, no Dragonfly!
It's time to wake up and see, what is possible and what is already fact.
It wasn't my intention to pretend, that this was a pic I had taken. I just wanted to find out the reactions.
I guess we need rules for flickr to ban AI-generated Pics. Otherwise sooner or later it's the end of Flickr.
As the sun dips below a bushfire-ravaged horizon, SSR grain train 1KN2 roars through Tallong behind the unusual combination of demonstrator gen-set units 1201 1202 leading BRM002 RL305 GM27 and 602.
A view of this magnificent coal-powered generating station, one of the few in our area that is still in service....
This other great picture of the gorgeous Aveline inspired me and I thought I would give Stable Diffusion a chance to re-imagine it :-)
Pathfinders railtour led by 60059, Swinden Dalesman, enters the MGR loop at Ferrybridge 'C' power station. The limestone preparation is in the background that provided slurry for the FGD plant.

Just for a bit of fun I played around with generating a Halloween image from scratch. Spring is a season of life, light and colour unlike the Northern Hemisphere where the harvest and autumn/fall colours dominate. I thought I would throw in a skeletal Kangaroo to try and portray the season. All the AI houses had the moon behind them. When I specified a sickle moon the Ai added in a second moon to the side! Now that would be unearthly indeed.
It may be dramatic and make for good photography, but this power plant is soon to be shuttered for good.
A coal fired plant, the Edgewater Generating Station, has operated on our city's lakeshore since 1931. That is 94 years of producing electricity for the city and the surrounding area, allowing us to live, to work, to produce, and to keep up with the modern pace of the world.
It was due to close down for good by the end of 2022.
Due to Covid and other factors, its closure was extended, though I've not heard when it will be finally shut down.
Cleaner renewables like natural gas, solar, and wind, have made coal-powered plants obsolete and unwanted. It is also a matter of economics, with renewables actually being cheaper in the production of electricity.
The site will be torn down and the 240 acres will be repurposed for another use yet to be determined. The company is holding public hearings to hear ideas from the community and businesses as to what it may become.
Time and technology move on...
But let us not take our blessings for granted. A BIG thank you to all the women and men who have had the creative vision and hard work to make the Edgewater station a 94-year success for the city of Sheboygan and the surrounding community!!
