This was a single cub wandering through our backyard. If it succeeds fattening up for winter it may have a chance to survive.
This is actually a frame grab from a drone video. The Palouse is an amazing area of rolling hills where a LOT of wheat is grown.
A still image from the video I've been shooting about the traditional craft of letterpress printing, still going strong in Wotton-under-Edge.
Power To Be (PTB) is the place to be — without a doubt.
After reading about it in Wednesday's Saanich News I just had to ride out on my mighty steed and take a look.
PTB is located at the foot of Prospect Lake.
N.B. In Vancouver Island logging jargon, The Foot of a lake is where it drains out.
Thus, the quickest route was to cross over from the Inland Interurban Trail via Viaduct Ave.
My cycling loop covered 40km and with all the photo-ops and sightseeing it took three-hours of my Earthly time.
Sunday we drove to the end of Goldstream Ave. in Langford and walked the boardwalk along the Ed Nixon Trail.
Emerging from Viaduct Ave. to continuing cycling north along Prospect Lake Rd. to Power To Be site at Prospect Lake.
This is a 4K video frame from our Samsung NX1 shooting with a Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 lens and a Fotodiox FD to NX lens adapter. Check out our Fotodiox YouTube channel to see the full video.
Sunday morning I drove 18km to Munn Road powerline access.
There were trail sections I did not cycle yesterday while here so today they were walked.

Thursday morning I cycled up to Haro Woods Park to see how my DJImini2 drone and camera would work as a handheld gimbal for recording smooth, walking videos.
It did quite well, considering it's the best camera I now have for this type of photography and believe me I've tried them all.
One of the best features for me is to get clear, crisp screenshots from the video frames. They look good to me.
A close-up view of the reappearance of Mars from behind the disk of the Full Moon, during the December 7, 2022 occultation of Mars.
Some of the dark mare areas covered in volcanic dust are visible on the disk of Mars, contrasting with the dark volcanic mare areas of the Moon. The region on the lunar limb that Mars is rising behind is the dark area called Mare Smythii. The main mare or "terra" region on Mars visible here is Mare Cimmerium. On the Moon's disk, Mare Crisium is at top, while below it is Mare Fecunditatis, with the prominent rayed crater Messier A.
This is a crop in from a single frame, not a stack, grabbed from the 8K video file taken with a Canon R5 camera shooting through the Astro-Physics 130mm refractor with a 2X Barlow, for a focal length of 1560mm at f/12. This frame had the best sharpness of many, as the seeing conditions were quite blurry for most of the time. Colour grading of the Canon Log3 video file was with Pixelmator Pro's new video editing functions, which included doing the crop.
My mother painted Snoopy on the nose of the Royal Flying Doctor Service's Charleville plane in the late 1960's. We've heard (but not confirmed) that every RFDS Charleville plane since has had a Snoopy on it. This photo is a frame grab from standard 8mm footage of my father's.
BTW ... That's me in the bottom right corner of the shot.
Friday morning I cycled the 3400m loop around Royal Bay Community Development.

The new Cedar Hill Middle School currently under construction seems sadly lacking in any architectural details. Sad.
But woman's lookin' pretty good on her ebike! 🚴
Sunday morning I put the DJI Mini 2 quadcopter up over Panama Flats to see to what extent the flood had subsided.
Main Trail is open which permits users to travers the park as the builders of the Inland Interurban Trail intended.

Sometimes the best part of life is confronting a "why?" and then doing it just to see what becomes of it. That was this day, when my buddy Klye and I decided to fly out to Inner Lake George and the Knik Glacier area. Apparently a while back, someone left a green canoe, life jacket and paddles (only one left) around the lake for anyone to use (which I have to say is a very Alaskan thing to do). We found it, and made something special of the experience. It has definitely gone through some damage and duct tape repair, so paddle at your own risk if you ever make it out there!

Tuesday morning I walked a 1500m loop to market in the 60cm (2ft.) deep snow. Snowfalls of such depths are rare in Victoria BC so whenever we get one I always make it a point to get out and enjoy its wonders.
Sunday we drove to Langford Lake and checked out the Ed Nixon trail beside the E&N Railway tracks where the trail-boardwalk has been blocked off for several months.
N.B. Photographed from underneath the barricade.

We watched this nest for a few hours on our last day of a recent vacation to Kodiak Island, Alaska and to Katmai National Park, Alaska.
We shot pics and video of this nest from a slightly elevated position on a local mountainous country road, not far from Surfer Beach.
This pic was a framegrab from an 8K video that we shot of one of the adult Bald Eagles returning to the nest to check on their single chick, a well-behaved little chap that entertained us while it dried off after being drenched in a local downpour that occurred a little bit before we started shooting these beauties. When we first saw the Eaglet on this visit, it had every feather plastered solidly to it's body by the recent rain. However, over the next couple of hours, it dried out nicely and once again became a lively puffball of very hungry feathers.

6:45a.m. I rode my bike up through the University of Victoria (UVic) and along the Alumni Trails to Haro Woods Park.
After ten o'clock in the morning it gets too warm for an enjoyable bike ride.
I recorded the Alumni GPS track in Alltrail's phone app.
The highlight of the outing was seeing — and cycling — the newly cut hay field beside Gordon Head Road.
Kudos to UVic staff for cutting the long grass making these two pathways readily accessible to users.

Langford Show and Shine 2022 #499th YouTube video this channel
Sunday morning I cycled a 34km loop out to the Langford Show and Shine and back home.
A beautiful ride on a beautiful day at 19°C (66°F.) with a cool, ocean breeze along the Galloping Goose Trail to Colwood,BC.
The City of Colwood is where one branches off onto the E&N Rail Trail to continue cycling westbound. This trail system is paved over its entire length.

Druidstone Haven, Pembrokeshire.
I don't often take selfies, but I'm in this picture. See if you can spot me.
Sunday morning I put the DJI Mini2 up over Langford's new watertower.
It looks like it may be the first of three at this location.

Saturday morning I cycled a 10km loop through the University of Victoria to Cadboro Bay beach at Gyro Park.
Saturday I cycled 41km roundtrip on an exploratory ride to Leechtown with Bro Stanley.

Saturday morning I cycled 8km roundtrip to Cadboro Bay Gyro Park and back thru UVic and hedge-trimmed Hobbs Road trailhead.
Tuesday after driving to our doctor's office and making an appointment for my wife I drove to Ross Bay Beach.
The Harry Weiler Memorial webcam is linked to Big Wave Dave's Webcam site.
My objective was to find the location of this webcam but this did not happen.
Using some triangulation and matriculation those smarter than me can find the webcam's location using these images.

Thursday I rode 8km roundtrip to Cadboro Bay beach and back home. The tide was way out (0.03m) so I rode my bike along the sand next to the water. It was surprisingly rough riding so that didn't last long.
Sunday morning I drove 25km to Langford, BC and put the DJImini2 up over Westhills' housing development.
It seems they added another watertank.

Thursday I drove her Honda to Speedie Auto Repair to get some scheduled maintenance done and had my Norco on the bike-rack for the 11km ride home.
This was the first time back riding my acoustic bike after cycling my pedelec over the past 14 months (1500km, BTW).
Man, is that a lot of exercise! Too much for this old man. Anyway, it's a pretty good ride — my ten-year-old Norco FXR Hybrid. It has over 10,000km on it by now although that's just a guess at a thousand kilometres per year. It could very well be 15,000km as I'm sure I rode it more than this ebike at 1500km/year.
Sunday morning I cycled 9,5km roundtrip from Aikman Road parking and trainlhead to Oliphant Lake dock and viewing platform.
Somewhere along the way I managed to put my drone up on a beautiful day.
Sunday morning I put the DJI Mini2 up over Langford's new watertower.

Saturday morning I rode down to Cadboro Bay to road-test my new bicycle seat.
It's a Raleigh Air Pump seat ($69) which adjusts by using the built-in pump or relief valve.
Fitting a new bicycle seat is always a challenge (I've changed three now) because nothing is standardized.
Oh, each manufacturer states theirs is standard but the three I've changed are all different.
The spacing of the seat rails and the diameter of the seat post adapter are the main two variables.
One can see from the bike seat photo the mounting clamp does not fit the rails as it should — but I got it to work.
N.B. I know — I should have bought a Cloud 9
