The ladies from MIJU Wools have created this post box topper in time for Remembrance Day, Friday 11 November. It shows the head and shoulders in khaki wool of a soldier surrounded by poppies and the words 'Lest We Forget'.

...there are several stories as to how the flower got its name. The story I like most is the one about the knight and his lady who were walking by a river. The knight reached down to pick some flowers for his lady but was pulled over by the weight of his armour into the river. As he was drowning he threw the posy to his loved one, crying out...Forget-Me-Not............

dont forget to breathe

Much of the current knowledge of memory has come from studying memory disorders. Loss of memory is known as amnesia. There are many sorts of amnesia, and by studying their different forms, it has become possible to observe apparent defects in individual sub-systems of the brain's memory systems, and thus hypothesize their function in the normally working brain. Other neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease can also affect memory and cognition. Hyperthymesia, or hyperthymesic syndrome, is a disorder which affects an individual's autobiographical memory, essentially meaning that they cannot forget small details that otherwise would not be stored.[10] Korsakoff's syndrome, also known as Korsakoff's psychosis, amnesic-confabulatory syndrome, is an organic brain disease that adversely affects memory.

We should have impeached George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, but history will show them to be war criminals, liars, and the worst president/vice president this country has ever had....you can quote me on that!!

The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (German: Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas), also known as the Holocaust Memorial (German: Holocaust-Mahnmal), is a memorial in Berlin to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, designed by architect Peter Eisenman and engineer Buro Happold. It consists of a 19,000 square metres (4.7 acres) site covered with 2,711 concrete slabs or "stelae", arranged in a grid pattern on a sloping field. The stelae are 2.38 m (7 ft 10 in) long, 0.95 m (3 ft 1 in) wide and vary in height from 0.2 to 4.8 m (8 in to 15 ft 9 in). According to Eisenman's project text, the stelae are designed to produce an uneasy, confusing atmosphere, and the whole sculpture aims to represent a supposedly ordered system that has lost touch with human reason. A 2005 copy of the Foundation for the Memorial's official English tourist pamphlet, however, states that the design represents a radical approach to the traditional concept of a memorial, partly because Eisenman did not use any symbolism. An attached underground "Place of Information" (German: Ort der Information) holds the names of all known Jewish Holocaust victims, obtained from the Israeli museum Yad Vashem.

Revisiting some of my older images. Here is one from the Albuquerque Ballon Fiesta that means a great deal to me. No, we can never forget.

Here's a shot from a recent shoot. Really digged the flair from the street light above and the overall feel of this one. Super happy with how this one came out.

I'm back on flickr and this is one of many uploads to come.

True Forget-me-not (Myosotis scorpioides) in macro close-up. (Canon EOS 50D + Sigma 105mm macro + Kenko DG for C/AF 36mm Extension Tube)

Lovely to see lots of Forget-me-nots blooming around Llanymynech Lime Kilns.

They have become a symbol very close to my heart these last six months. I wear a tiny Forget-me-not pin everywhere I go, in memory of our 22-year-old son, Alex, who was killed in September 2024 by a dangerous driver.

"Myosotis (/ˌmaɪ.əˈsoʊtɪs/;[2] from the Greek: μυοσωτίς "mouse's ear", after the leaf) is a genus of flowering plants in the family Boraginaceae. In the northern hemisphere they are commonly called forget-me-nots[3] or scorpion grasses. The common name "forget-me-not" was calqued from the German Vergissmeinnicht, and first used in English in 1398 AD via King Henry IV.[4] Similar names and variations are found in many languages.."
