Where do fairy babies lie

Till they're old enough to fly?

Here's a likely place, I think,

'Mid these flowers, blue and pink,

(pink for girls and blue for boys:

Pretty things for babies' toys!)

Let us peep now, gently. Why,

Fairy baby, here you lie! Kicking there, with no one by,

baby dear, how good you lie!

All alone, but, you're not -

You could never be - forgot!

O how glad I am I've found you,

With Forget-me-nots around you,

Blue, the colour of the sky!

Fairy baby, Hushaby!

Utilizing the same shape as found on the book's slipcase, various surprising statistics are conveyed to the reader in an interactive, interesting manner. The forms were hand-cut from the pages with an x-acto knife.

Unbeknownst to many, Los Angeles has served as one of the most important oil provinces on the planet. From the initial discoveries near the turn of the 20th century, through the roaring 1920s, and into the present, oil has often guided and defined the development of the city. What's interesting, however, is that this fact is so often eclipsed by Los Angeles' well-documented histories as a center of film, entertainment, boosterism and agriculture. Forgetting Oildorado excavates the city's rich oil history, examines the slow decline of the local industry, and uncovers many of the active oil fields that lie hidden in plain sight, in the very midst of this teeming city.

This 120-page book includes text based upon Frank Ruchala Jr.'s monumental examination of Los Angeles' oil history, oiLA, with historical imagery sourced from Early California Oil by Kenny Franks and Paul Lambert. All other photography was shot by me, using a combination of Digital SLR, 35mm SLR, Medium Format Holga, and 35mm Lomo cameras.

32nd of my 365

Back to street-life again. Have been shooting a lot, but could not literally shot something where life was in that. Only photo "I" was able to find some stories were this.

The time I was shooting them, they broke up after shouting and swearing on each other. When he made his move from there, I finally shoot 'em. Shocking, yet a story and a photo.

Lets see if anyone is thinking alike ...

It was only when I visited this war memorial that I learned about the big role Australia played during WWII in the Philippines...of how they helped take back Corregidor from the hands of the Japanese.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.

Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.

They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,

They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.

One of three photos--Seen at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy, New York, USA on May 28, 2025. What a great place for Forget-Me-Nots!

While on my walk on Sunday, I can't forget to mention that I saw patches of these lovely blue flowers - the Forget-Me-Nots or Myosotis scorpioides. This plant can be weedy or invasive if you plant them in your yard, but they certainly look wonderful growing wild in the woodlands.

After a break from Flickr and a chance to take photos without having to add a pointless and non-informative description, I've decided to start tentatively posting the occasional photo again.

Not for the style of the site which, upon my return, I find to be blacker than a coal miner's funeral, but for the assurance that my photos are appreciated and enjoyed all over the, well, not world but... screen maybe.

This photo was what I considered the start of the summer, just warm enough to go out without a jacket and scrabble around in some dirt. Later on I took this photo.

Forget-me-not seems a very apt name for a flower, growing in a church yard.

I love these little blue flowers. :-)

Somewhere near the toilets. St Vincent's Works really did make a huge show of the most up to date materials to decorate their works. This moulded and embossed Lincrusta wallpaper decorates some of the quieter spaces away from the extremes of the Doulton-tiled entrance hall.

From here, it was easy enough to forget that behind you lay a bustling beach town, and beyond a metropolis of millions.
