I felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction while inaugurating the 8th Global Food Processing Summit 2016 organised by ASSOCHAM in New Delhi. Events like these are the steps to make India the leader in food processing. Food processing can significantly reduce wastage, generate employment, offer better prices to farmers and help in reducing food inflation. Our emphasis is to promote value addition at the farm-gate level and encourage entrepreneurship. We aim to make 42 mega food parks operational by end of 2019, which will yield a potential investment of about Rs 14,000 crore and would benefit about 12.5 lakh farmers.
