Continuing our efforts to attract FDI for Indian food Processing sector, we met representatives of various companies in Tokyo yesterday. Our meetings with Marubeni Corporation, Ise Foods, House Food Corporarions, Isetan Misukoshi Holdings Ltd.,Japan Association of Refrigerated Warehouses and Mayekawa Manufacturing Co. Ltd., to explore possibilities of association in Food Processing were productive.

Inaugurating India Pavilion at GulFood 2016, Dubai was a sheer delight. It is an avenue for interaction of the Indian exhibitiors with the sagacious investors from UAE. While India has the capability of production of food grains, fruits, vegetables and milk but lacks food processing infrastracture, UAE has surplus funds and technology but has dearth of raw material. If they come together, then “Make in India” food products can not only be used for UAE and India, but can be exported to other countries too. I also had a very fruitful meeting with with Essa Abdulla Al Ghurair, Chairman of Al Ghurair Group to explore opportunities.

Our visit was hosted by James Herbert, Executive Chairman of the Board & Steve Quinlan, CFO for this publicly traded company (NASDAQ: NEOG). The presentation was at the Capital Region International Airport. From the Government Relations site, "the Michigan Road Scholar Tour takes faculty of the University of Michigan (U-M) on a five-day traveling seminar on the State of Michigan. This educational tour exposes participants to the state’s economy, government and politics, culture, educational systems, health and social issues, history, and geography."

Farmers put in their sweat and blood for months to produce food. But a lot of it gets wasted due to poor storage facilities. The Mega Food Parks project in which we plan to operationalize 42 food parks will provide a modern infrastructure for arresting post-harvest losses of horticultural and non-horticultural produce and provide impetus to the growth of food processing sector in the country. This project will help in providing better prices to farmers, reduce wastage of perishables, add value to agricultural produce and create huge opportunities for entrepreneurship and employment for the youth. We reviewed the food parks project and are satisfied with its progress.
