Part of the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland above the Williams Street entrance to the former Melbourne Mint.

The Melbourne Mint was a branch of the British Royal Mint, and officially opened for business in 1872. It closed in 1970, and the sole remaining building now houses the Hellenic Museum and Mint Bar and Restaurant.

On a page dedicated to this building, the National Trust of Australia laments the fact that the portico has been painted. Must admit I'm not a fan of the lion's red manicure either...

I love summer ... for the warmer weather, balmy nights, summer fruits which brings on making preserves. This summer I have abundance of preserves already and the figs aren't ripe yet, there's olives, chillies, quinces yet to ripen as well!

I'm packing and moving in one day. I have stuff, but not a huge amount. It's just getting organised. I want this to be done in one swoop, so I can clean up after I know all my junk is out of the way.

Not sure how this parsley has survived winter. Today I saw a spring of mint popping out of dead branches too. Weirdest winter in memory.
