Fallon Smart was 15. She was crossing SE Hawthorne Blvd at 43rd when she hit and killed bu a man who was driving his car 55-60 mph.
Carson Sink is a playa in the northeastern portion of the Carson Desert that was formerly the terminus of the Carson River. The sink is currently fed by drainage canals of the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District. The southeastern fringe of the sink where the canals enter is a wetland of the Central Basin and Range ecoregion, which is mostly included within the Fallon National Wildlife Refuge and the Stillwater Wildlife Management Area. This area serves as an important stopover for migrating waterfowl. The Sehoo Formation is in the south of the Carson Sink.
The Carson Sink and Lone Rock working areas are the northwest portion of both the Carson Sink and the Fallon Range Training Complex. The Lone Rock working area includes the Bravo-20 range which has numerous targets for combat aircraft training. Lone Rock is in the middle of a Bravo-20 live bombing area and is a solitary pinnacle of rock through the playa that is held sacred by the Paiute.
The Carson Trail used during the California Gold Rush across the Lahontan Basin included a section from through the Forty Mile Desert to the first drinkable water on the Carson River. The Carson Sink station of the Pony Express was built in March, 1860
In 1984, the natural dike between the Carson Sink and the Humboldt Sink was breached by the Nevada Department of Transportation to prevent Interstate 80 and the town of Lovelock from flooding due to unusually heavy snowfall in the preceding three years. The sinks remained connected by water for 3 years, until 1987.

Plenty of elbow room on these streets! Space is abundant. The landscape for this town is rather featureless, and I found the forest of brightly colored signs a little nauseating. If you are trying to find something specific, it can be dizzying trying to read the signs!
In this town, I found a Beagle named Sassy who was lost. Her tag had her address on it, and with directions from the motel owner, Blanca and I were able to walk her home! :)

i haven't put anything up in a while so i thought i would do this one up really quick... the model is Fallon and i did a shoot with here and another photographer friend a while back... i wanted to try some different stuff with lighting... i was trying for lighting her sides and getting a little shadow detail down the center... and this is what i got for the day...

A CH-47 Chinook crew from Bravo Company, 1-126th General Support Aviation Battalion, was called to assist aviators from the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center from Fallon, Nev., on Jan. 5, 2012. One of their Navy MH-60S Seahawk's had crash landed during a training mission high in the Toiyabe National Forest near the U.S. Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center (MWTC), northwest of Bridgeport, Calif. All four crewmen aboard were able to walk away from the Dec. 21 incident but now the Navy wanted their aircraft back. The California Army National Guard flight crew from Stockton landed on a bald hilltop at 9,200 feet and was escorted to the crash site by Marines from the MWTC. Over the next few hours U.S. Marine rigging specialists from the Combat Logistics Battalion 17, specially called up from Camp Pendleton, worked with their fellow Devil Dogs trained in alpine, rock, and snow warfare, to prepare the pre-stripped helicopter for extraction. Taking guidance from a Naval MH-60S crew chief and the experts flying the tandem rotor hauling machine, the multi-service recovery team was able to pluck the 15,000 pound fallen bird, which was painted as an opposition force "enemy" aircraft, above the pine trees, down the canyon and back to the MWTC. Everyone watching, including representatives from the U.S. Forestry Service and the MWTC Environmental Office applauded the safe and successful operation. The aircraft, which lost its tail end during the hard landing, will rest on the Marines tarmac while it is subjected to further pokes and prods as key personnel continue to investigate how the incident happened. Fallon is a city in Churchill County, Nevada, United States, in the western part of the state. The population was 8,606 at time of the 2010 census. Fallon is the county seat of Churchill County and is located in the Lahontan Valley.
Fallon and Churchill County are mostly agricultural areas. Although the area is arid, approximately 50,000 acres (200 km2) of its pastureland are irrigated with water from the Truckee–Carson Irrigation District. The principal crop grown is alfalfa for livestock feed. The "Heart O' Gold" cantaloupes of Churchill County were once distributed across the United States, but are now grown mostly for consumption in Nevada.
The largest single employer in Fallon and Churchill County is Naval Air Station Fallon, a training airfield that has been the home of the U.S. Navy's Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center including the TOPGUN training program since 1996, when it was moved here from Naval Air Station Miramar with that Air Station transferred to the U.S. Marine Corps.
U.S. Highway 50 (east–west) and US 95 (north–south) intersect in Fallon. It is one of the towns on the so-called "Loneliest Highway in America", the stretch of US 50 across most of Nevada that is known for its remoteness. Eastbound travelers from Fallon must drive 110 miles (180 km) to find the next town, Austin.
It is in the Lahontan Valley, a former lakebed into which flows the Carson River, which passes north of the city.
The Paiute-Shoshone Tribe of the Fallon Reservation and Colony is headquartered in Fallon.

Fallon's rescue was featured on FOX 2's News Edge story with Andy Banker (2/13). Temperatures were in the single digits, Stray Rescue found her wandering the streets, very pregnant & brought her back to the shelter where she gave birth to 9 adorable puppies. All have been adopted so now Fallon is ready for her Forever Home. She is already in a foster home. She is housebroken, crate trained and walks great on a leash. She knows basic commands "Sit", "Down", "Kennel time" & will gently take treats. She is a smart girl that is truly eager to please. Fallon is spayed, micro chipped & vaccinated. She gets along great with her foster family, their 2 other dogs plus the dogs at adoption events. She has not been around any cats but she is good with kids. She likes to play with her toys & catches them in mid air. Fallon likes to go for walks or jog & does not try to run ahead. She enjoys curling up next to her foster family (2-'legged & 4-legged). She even likes to ride in the car. Fallon can hardly wait to show you her loving personality & is ready to go to her Forever Home to be your extremely loyal companion.
