Well, you certainly won't miss it, that's for sure!

Panoramic stitch. The park is getting an almost $500K facelift that will last almost a year, from August 2017 thru August 2018. Since I'm across the street, I'm shooting photos and video often.

Our first IRL sighting of a facelifed Volkswagen Phaeton. Looks very good and should be possible to retrofit to US cars.

The images above are of the former Presbyterian Church of Wales, which is located at Heathfield Road/Smithdown Place (depending on who you ask). I'd heard rumours that the building was going to undergo some sort of modification so when I wandered past a few weekends ago and noticed that a hole had been knocked in the middle of the building, I assumed that the process of modifying/dividing/modernising the building had begun (the first three images are from that stage).

I drove past on my way home from town yesterday and the whole church is more or less gone (remaining images). After a bit of digging, I found out that the majority of the church is being demolished to make way for a new, much smaller chapel.

Apparently an attempt was made to get the building listed but it failed due to a lack of architectural or historical significance (the building was 84 years old). It seems a tremendous shame to demolish such a beautiful building, even if it did need work to bring it up to modern standards.

EDIT: I think I'm also annoyed with myself as it's a building I've always meant to get round to spending some time taking photos of, as it's on my doorstep and now the opportunity is gone forever. Some sort of lesson to be learnt there.

The all new body style for the upcoming 2012 Rolls Royce Phantom & Drophead Coupe/Vert. I love it, looks great and is needed in my opinion.

Monmouth Square and Water(less) Gardens. Thought I’d get a few photos in before the imminent revamp of the town centre.

The buildings around Gwent and Monmouth Squares are getting a gaudy cladding makeover. Additionally, the Gwent Square bandstand and the much loved “Dai & Myfanwy” clock on the Congress Theatre is being removed, fate unknown. On Monmouth Square, the Water(less) Gardens are being removed and built over.

In my opinion the Water Gardens should be restored to their former glory, forming a wonderful focal point, not filled in for the benefit of (yet another) cafe and a few market stalls.
