Close to 20 floats are paraded through the streets during the annual Kawagoe Festival in Saitama Prefecture. This 350+ year old festival draws massive crowds that line up along the old storehouse district. This celebration has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage event.

My Photoblog- My Third Eye...!
Recently I was reading about why photographers should visit places during festivals and today there is a Flower Festival in Chiang Mai, so I could see how it works in practice. And I can confirm - it is all true! I just need to get a proper zoom...

I, with the wife, visited the festival of light at Longleat this week. We went once before around 2013 and it was pretty spectacular then. It has become even more so and grown in size. These are just a few images I took to give you some idea of the effort that goes in to creating these wonderful exhibits. They are (I believe) a wire frame with silk glued on then painted as required. Either soft low watt bulbs or LED's are placed inside depending on the desired effect required. If you look to the right of Zeus you will see people in the shadows and this will give you an idea of the size of some of the exhibits. The whole temple (life size) was also made in the same way.
I'm home from the Arvika Festival now. I've seen bands like Babyshambles and Kent, and spent the rest of the time with awesome people. My memory card is full, 817 photos!
The Sawdust Art Festival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public and promoting the art created in Laguna Beach. Since its inception, the nonprofit Sawdust Art Festival organization has celebrated and supported the work of local artists.
Designed to both entertain and educate, the Sawdust Art Festival draws more than 200,000 visitors worldwide each year. Visitors are invited to shop along sawdust-covered paths through a hand-crafted village of fine arts and superb craftsmanship. Artists that exhibit during the summer festival are Laguna Beach residents.
The Sawdust Art Festival plays a vital role in supporting the careers of many local artists. The Sawdust has expanded from its beginnings as a small show on a vacant lot on Pacific Coast Highway to a nine-week festival set in Laguna Canyon on a cool three-acre, eucalyptus grove.
Vivid Festival
Sydney, Australia.
2 Hours @ Vivid.
I usually visit the Vivid Festival a few times each year, but life kinda got in the way this year.
My mother had a stroke so my main focus was on helping her to recover.
I’d booked tickets earlier on in the year to watch Beth Orton perform at the Opera House.
So I took the opportunity to arrive a bit earlier for the gig & do a quick photoshoot @ Vivid.
I started off at Martin Place, then the ACM, Botanical Gardens, and finished up at the Opera House.
The festival is expanding and getting better each year.
The Botanic Gardens were better, The Zoo looked good, Barangaroo was also added to the festival this year.
Darling harbour looked impressive, though I thought the Opera House projections were average.
However, the crowds are also increasing, which makes it a bit hard to photograph Vivid.
Everybody seems to want to get selfies in front of the installations these days.
Looking forward to next year.
