Sympathetic spot discovered with Yoann yesterday afternoon accessible to low tide after a small walk on the preceding beach. This range is bordered with very high mangroves trees and the sand covered by places with black leaves. When we arrived, the sun was nearly below the horizon, we had to quickly find elements of composition (while avoiding being bitten by a group of horseflies :-). Soapwort contains soap-like chemicals called saponins, that create a lather when crushed. In Europe, soapwort was grown near woolen mills and used to wash the wool. Because it is a gentle detergent and contains fungicides that aid in the preservation of cloth, it has been — and still is — used to clean delicate fabrics and tapestries, most famously the Shroud of Turin. Early American colonists brought soapwort from England to clean clothes, pots and pans, hair and skin, and even wash away poison ivy oils. The facade sculpture “Venus crest” is by sculptor Hubert Minnebo.

It is 11 meters high. The fish represents the sea, the woman represents the earth and the bird represents the sky. The fourth primal element, fire, is missing here figuratively, but is reflected in the material of the artwork, copper, which is born of fire and also symbolizes the sun. It was installed in 2003.

Kolugljúfur Canyon is a stunning natural wonder located in the western part of Iceland. It is situated in the Víðidalur Valley, near the town of Hvammstangi. The canyon is carved by the Víðidalsá River, which flows through the rugged landscape, creating a picturesque gorge.

One of the highlights of Kolugljúfur Canyon is the Kolufossar Waterfall, which cascades down the cliffs into the river below. The waterfall is a popular spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts, as its powerful flow and picturesque setting make for stunning photographs.

As the sun begins to set, the cliffs of the canyon are illuminated, casting long shadows and creating a dramatic contrast against the deep blue sky. The colors of the surrounding landscape intensify, with the greens of the vegetation becoming more vibrant and the river reflecting the warm hues of the setting sun.

In summer at Iceland, sunset was about 11pm-12am, sunrise was about 1-2am, the night was too short. Always took sunset photos, then waiting for sunrise... Only 2-3 hours night (not really dark night) during summer time.

Let the new night bring you peace

And the promise of tomorrow,

Where we can wake to a new beginning.

Tomorrow, I'll have only lost their faces-

My friends and family,

Memories of all we had

And the times we should have lived,

And tomorrow America just might fall apart.

tomorrow, tell me,

Where will you wake up?

Beyond title, beyond lease, careers and laws,

Something more than borders on a map...

And the sun's always rising in the sky somewhere,

And if young hearts should explode

From all the lies they've been told...

To live through one night like this,

I would trade it for the silence...

Again burnt out I know, but hey this was the scene on the day, and a beautiful few moments it was. I uploaded a very similar version in colour earlier this week but I'm a sucker for black and white :-) There is something special about standing in a grove like this as the sun pours in early in the morning. Thankfully I have scenes like this all around me, I know I am lucky.

If I thank you all individually I'll never get out with my camera again! So thank you one and all for every view, comment and fav :-)
