The combined age of these lenses is probably around 300 years… all of them work fine, so they‘re living proof of the expertise and craftsmanship that went into making them.

It would be really interesting to know what kind of stories they could tell…

Singapore Botanic Gardens are an oasis of natural beauty and tranquility in a highly urbanized city. The Gardens were established in 1859, and retain the same layout and historical buildings until today.

The Gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and are a global center for plant research, development, and conservation. This was a key institution involved with the introduction of rubber trees in South East Asia, which became a major cash crop for the region.

The greening of Singapore is a direct result of the Gardens' efforts, which devoted their expertise and resources to transform Singapore into the Garden City that it has now become.

The National Orchid Garden has the world's largest display of orchids, and is part of Singapore Botanical Gardens' orchid breeding program, with a repository of one thousand species and two thousand hybrids.

Expertise welcomed. Spotted this Turkey Vulture cruising around with his family . I wanted to get as much detail as possible so intentionally I set the focal length to maximum. It came very close by and did not even fit in the frame, but this exciting encounter made my day. I believe it is a leucistic vulture. I have never seen one like this before.

Superb Fairy-wren putting his expertise to work again...

Preston Mill is a watermill on the River Tyne at the eastern edge of East Linton in East Lothian, Scotland. Preston Mill consists of a kiln, a mill, and the miller's house. The mill wheel dates back to 1909. The kiln was used to dry the grain.

There has been a mill on the site since the 16th century. The present mill dates from the 18th century and is in the care of the National Trust for Scotland. It was used commercially until 1959, and it produced oatmeal. The mill is Category A-listed.

The engineer and millwright Andrew Meikle maintained the mill in the 18th century. In 1948 a flood submerged the buildings, and in 1950 a local land owner gave the mill to the National Trust for Scotland. The milling firm Rank Hovis McDougall provided help with the renovation and expertise to allow the mill to be operative again. It is still in working order.

The Afsluitdijk is a remarkable engineering feat in the Netherlands, stretching 32 kilometers (20 miles) across the Wadden Sea to separate it from the IJsselmeer12. Constructed between 1927 and 1932, this major dam and causeway was designed to protect the Dutch inland areas from the sea and to facilitate land reclamation.

Here are some key points about the Afsluitdijk:

Purpose: It was built to dam off the Zuiderzee, a saltwater inlet of the North Sea, transforming it into the freshwater lake IJsselmeer.

Construction: The dike was largely built by hand and has been protecting the Netherlands from the sea for over 90 years.

Dimensions: The dike is 90 meters (300 feet) wide at the crest and initially stood at a height of 7.25 meters (23.8 feet) above sea level.

Upgrades: Since its construction, the Afsluitdijk has undergone several height increases to enhance its protective capabilities.

Recreational Use: There are cycle paths and footpaths along the dike, offering scenic views of both the Wadden Sea and the IJsselmeer.

It’s a vital part of the larger Zuiderzee Works, showcasing the Dutch expertise in water management and engineering

In this extraordinary workshop, she watches over the mechanical heart of time, pipe in hand. Every gear, every cog is a secret that only she understands. Armed with her elegance and expertise, she is the guardian of this intricate mechanism where past and future collide.

Each tick and tock resounds like a mechanical melody, perfectly in sync with her breath. Between mystery and precision, she alone holds the power to restore order... or unleash chaos.

Expertise is what we need.

A secretive and cryptic shorebird that is wary and seldom seen. It's Old World cousin, the Common Snipe, lends its name to the term "sniper" -- denoting the expertise a marksman was required to successfully hunt this skittish and fast flying shorebird. Harns Marsh.

We have a mole hill on my pride and joy lawn building mole hills….(Bottom left)…..So I decided to call in a bit of expertise help……And yes…..I guess you could say that I might have gone in over kill in the numbers…..But they assure me that they are best in mole evictions in the district……. Apparently all it takes is a few well placed Sheltie yaps in the right place…..And that’s it, job done…..And like any canny businessman (Or dog)….These are all asking for half payment up front…..Which is just fine by me, as long as they get this mole to move on before it does any more damage to my lawn….And I very much doubt the Shelties would mind if I sneak in a photo just for you dear reader whilst I have their full attention ….Click…..There, that should do it….

Montreal is a city of artificial intelligence

Greater Montréal has firmly established itself as a global artificial intelligence leader. The region has developed cutting-edge expertise, driven by world-leading researchers like Yoshua Bengio.

The metropolis is home to one of the world’s largest deep learning university communities, and global leaders including Google, Microsoft and Facebook are setting up research labs in the region.

People dismiss expertise and listen to know-nothing sweet talkers. He told me how difficult it was to reach his expert level. In just becoming a captain, he worked and apprenticed for over 720 days on a 100 ton ship. He then had to study and take a grueling test to get his captain's license. He knew the sea. He knew the ship. He knew the regulations. And man, did he know the shore and ocean contour around that lighthouse.

"That’s quite an accomplishment," I said. "But I suspect programmers and engineers are going to fully automate the piloting of ships with artificial intelligence. Soon."

"They'll still need captains," he said.

"I'm not even sure they'll need lighthouses," said I. "Think of all the land and expenses that would be saved if you could just put a cyber lighthouse on an electronic GPS map."

"What if you don't have an electronic map, or the GPS signal goes out?" queried the captain.

"Then the ship stops."

First off: What a JOY it was to take these photos! In the usual run of things I loathe photographing the outfits. Things took a dramatic turn for the better when Frigg Ragu gave me an unbelievable present in the shape of her poses. And what beauties they are: No weird deformations on the avatar structure, no funny angles jutting out where there shouldn't be any. And beautiful, fluid body language on top of technical expertise! Thank you sooooooo much Frigg! You literally made my day!

This one here is a bit of a change of pace. What with summer in RL and all that, we have been doing quite a bit of naughty stuff of late with only prims and little bits and bobs barely concealing the parts which need to be concealed on a virtual body to allow one to enter even a mature sim these days.

So, for all those bashful avatars out there, here is one which is well covered indeed. The "manbo!" sailor takes its name from an amazing animated attachment of that name created by a most generous soul named Gonzo Shan. I have put the maracas that will let you "manbo!" as an extra little gift into the box which also includes male/female skins, garments, a naval collar and cap, upper and lower "manbo" sleeves and bottom flares, boots, a skirt for the ladies and some rotating naval pennants for ladies and gentlemen. The hair is by none other than the amazing Bryce Tully who is THE hair designer to go to if you want really natural looking ultra short hair in Second Life.

Though as always, Muad'dib's fanatic Fremen legions provided the hand-to-hand killing power, on such watery planets as this, the expertise of House Atreides troops in sea power was also essential. The Atreides brought naval technology perfected in their ancient wars on Caladan, including the prototype for the Halleck-Class hovercraft, a light patrol and transport vessel. The Halleck-Class was a surface-effect ship with rigid twin hulls and an air cushion. At low speeds, the vessel was supported by the buoyancy of its two hulls, like a catamaran. At high speeds, the rear propeller pods were lowered into the water and the air cushion was inflated between the hulls, trapped by skirts across the prow and stern. The air cushion reduced drag, allowing high rates of speed, while the rigid hulls provided a higher degree of lateral stability than a traditional hovercraft.

Despite his lack of practical farm expertise, William Johnston (1848-1885) was the "founder" of the Ontario Agricultural College and its Principal from 1876-1879. It was his vision that led to the creation of a three-year degree program, affiliated with the University of Toronto, which began in 1887 and continued until 1964. Johnston Hall, built in 1932 as a student residence and administrative offices, is now one of the University's most recognized buildings.

Johnston Hall's stone tower is the University of Guelph's best-known landmark, and its spacious front lawn one of the most loved spots on campus. Administrative offices fill the lower floor, while 315 students live on the top three floors in large double and triple rooms. Built in 1932, Johnston Hall's traditional architecture and its spacious tower lounge make it a favorite with many students.

We will never reach the expertise of the master, but we'll never stop trying to learn his ways... And take a leap in every possible way.

Its almost an hour into the new day as Rock Island District train #531 slaps the old GM&O and Santa Fe diamonds and makes another on-time arrival at Joliet Union Station. This scene is now no more, as the State of Illinois and Metra have funded a newer facility east of famous UD Tower, no longer necessitating the noisy, diamond banging sounds of an arrival west of the tower. A few faithful photographers gathered for a late night visit on Wednesday to document operations, a nice quiet time to get some nocturnal images of more railroading traditions quickly slipping into the history books. Big thanks to Chris Guss for the lighting and elevation expertise. NOTE: Taken on Metra property with permission.

Hello amazing people !!

I'm back from the store (look at yesterday’s picture for more information) !! Yes, I'm ok until my next grocery shopping next week !!

Today we celebrate a blue day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Looking close on Friday is : ring.

And if you say ring, I say “nail”! As you may already know (from a previous picture) I love nail rings! I discovered that type of ring few years ago and since I have no nails (and I don’t want to invest in fake nails because I’m so clumsy it will be a loss of money anyways…) it is a perfect solution for a more “lady like look”.

So here you have my favorite nail rings! And who is the best if you want to assess your jewelry value during a pandemic? Mr. Elvis The Accountant of course!

Elvis loves jewelry!! He collects all kind of jewelry, but women’s jewelry is his favorite. Being a collector for many years, he developed a worldwide expertise in women’s jewelry! He can spot a fake rock at a mile! Many rich and famous people called Elvis to confirm the authenticity and value of their beloved jewelry pieces! We will not drop names, but I overheard him speaking on the phone to a certain Barack, Melania, Donald and Justin Trudeau! Yes, yes that is a true story!!

So, as you all know by now (I’m pretty sure, unless you are living on another planet) there is a corona virus pandemic going on. It is very unsafe to touch people hands or just to show people your own hand at a close range (so all fist fights will have to wait until after !!). But since I wanted to know what is my jewelry worth (and who knows? I may be able to pay some extra rolls of toilet paper for my whole family !!!)… I called an expert…Elvis The Accountant. In order to keep Elvis safe, I had to use my wooden hands, which are perfectly safe since I wash them in hot water with soap for at least 20 seconds every time, I or another member of my family, sneezes on them!

So, Elvis felt safe, but he insisted on wearing his protective shoes… Which is ok with me! He looked at my rings for a very, very long time… He observed every tiny detail and looked at every tiny scratch and discoloration… and then, after 5 minutes, he did it again all over! I could almost see dollars signs in his eyes…. I was already making plans as to where I will store the extra toilet paper … Let’s see: the garage is already full, playroom: full up to the ceiling, my bathrooms: very, very full… The only place left: my husband’s socks drawer. That is it: the extra toilet paper will go in to my husband drawer… who needs sock’s anyway ? we are in Canada, he only needs a pair of boots he can wear bare foot ! Also, he has one socks of each pair left… he complains about it constantly… He won’t miss his lonely socks for sure! Ok, he can wear mine, pink socks are very fashionable for men!!

But, sadly my friends, Elvis The Accountant shook his head, in a sign of desperation… He looked at me, took a deep breath and he basically told my all my nail rings were fake! What???? How is it possible???!! It was all a scam: I paid 10$ for 10 rings!! They were so shinny and beautiful!! I was sure I had true diamonds…

And the moral of this story: it is not because it shines like a diamond that it is a diamond... or something like that! And I need my coffee with some Bailys please lol

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts / positive vibes!! It is truly appreciated! I sincerely hope everyone is all right and you all have everything you need to survive this with a smile! Have a great day and see you soon!!

The cities of Shanghai and Beijing, whose expertise in Mosaiculture is world-renowned, wanted to join the 150th anniversary celebrations of Confederation to show their friendship with Canada. The two works, focused on the celebration of the feast, aimed at wishing fortune, happiness and prosperity to the Canadian people. Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montréal has been actively collaborating with these two cities for more than 15 years.

Horace wanted us to take him to explore a location he had googled so he could check out if it would be a suitable bungee jump venue.

You may ask where was Hoof, well following Lewis Hamiltons failure to clinch the formula one world championship last weekend due to a bit of a botched pit stop strategy, Toto Wolff (owner of Lewis’s team) called him up to fly out to Mexico so that Hoof could input his technical expertise and get this job sorted.

Hoof comes from a very distinguished background in motor sport think of the Ferrari Badge and what do you see, yes the prancing horse and the initials S F.

The horse is actually Hoof, and as Hoof is rather shy he did not want his name emblazoned on the side of the badge, he was happy with just S F meaning Shy, and the last letter of his name being the F. If you don’t believe me look on the badge of a Ferrari.

Back to Horace he was very impressed with this as a possible jump site, but was worried about dinosaurs muscling in on the act as this is part of the Jurrassic coast, can’t be to careful these days, call security. So it is back to Cornwall.

Thank you for looking, as always your comments and views are so appreciated.

Go Lewis, bring it home, Vroom vroom🐎🐷🏆😎😂😂

So this is war. Finally, we are able to show, what we are made for. The first victory on Geonosis, despite all our losses, did prove what I knew all along: This army is ready. I am ready! I am now in charge of a small squad and we’re about to ship out to the outer rim soon. These men are at the top of their game and together we’ll bring the fight to the separatists! Oya manda!

Number: CT-3031/1199

Name: Linx

Rank: Private

Expertise: Scouting, hacking

Weapons: standard DC-15, tactical headlamp

Linx is one of the regular troopers that fought along us Raysh’olan on Geonosis and surprisingly, he kept up with us very well. He’s an outstanding scout, spotting targets long before the scanners do and his hacking skill is a reliable bypass to most security doors. I’m glad to have him on my squad now.

Number: CT-8787/0055

Name: Bruiser

Rank: Private

Expertise: explosives

Weapons: standard DC-15, tactical headlamp

Bruiser was assigned to Talon squad immediately after Geonosis. Apparently command thinks, we need more firepower, so he was the natural choice. True to his name, he’s an expert at inflicting damage to any target, be it through the use of explosives or else. He’s said to have torn apart a dozen droids with his bare hands. I’m eager to see this spectacle for myself!

The pride of lions at Yorkshire Wildlife Park were rehomed from Oradea Zoo in Romania where due to lack of funds and expertise they were kept in very poor conditions. At the time, Lion Rescue was the largest big cat rescue in Europe. They now live happily, roaming their seven acre reserve at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

At the time, YWP was a new park and did not have the funds to rehome and care for the lions but with the help of the News of the World launched a massive campaign `Lion Rescue’. The public rallied for the cause and raised £150,000 which helped bring the lions back to Yorkshire. A team of big cat experts from zoos around the UK travelled to Romania to help load the 13 lions. The snow did not help! The lions arrived in February 2010 – Jet2.com donated the use of a plane and with special permission, they were allowed to land at Doncaster Airport. The pilot began his descent from Amsterdam in order to mitigate the effect of the pressure on the lions’ ears! The world’s media was watching and the lions became world famous overnight.

The 13 lions included two cubs, Dani and Simba who were then aged just eight months old, and Jonny Senior who was 27 years old. All the lions rediscovered their health and have been a favourite with visitors here at YWP in the purpose built Lion Country Six years on, there are 8 lions in Lion Country: Simba, Maria, Carla, Crystal, Julie, Allis, Adel and Ares.

The campaign on Vandos Prime did prove to be more of a challenge than I expected before. Those 253rd boys are really giving it their all. I am not sure I have integrated well yet, but I am still alive, which means I can’t have done too bad. Yet, there’s always something to improve. As a first step, I requested some extra gear. EMP grenades have proven to be useful against the droids on Vandos, so I’ll be carrying more of them now. The new mission briefing states that we’ll be deployed for crowd control on Corellia, so I ordered an energy shield, too. You can never know what these protestors are up to and I’d rather not have them scratch my armor. We’ve been instructed to use none-lethal weapons primarily, but I’m not giving up my DC, no matter what. If push comes to shove, I can use it as a baton or use my sword to keep these protestors at arms length.

Koi has proven to be a capable fighter and loyal comrade on Vandos Prime. He does not question direct orders, but still has enough of a brain not to get himself killed right away. I said whoever survived this hell out there was worth fighting by my side and I am keeping this promise. That’s why I requested for Koi to be transferred to Mizu Squad, the newly formed unit under my command. And with his new armor, he has some signature blue stripes to show for it. For this mission he has traded his trusty DC for an energy pike. Wouldn’t be my weapon of choice, but he demonstrated some impressive skill in our short training session. I’m sure he’ll do well.

Singapore Botanic Gardens / National Orchid Garden

The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a 160-year-old tropical garden located at the fringe of Singapore's Orchard Road shopping district. It is one of only three gardens, and the only tropical garden, to be honoured as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Botanic Gardens has been ranked Asia's top park attraction since 2013, by TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards. It was declared the inaugural Garden of the Year, International Garden Tourism Awards in 2012, and received Michelin's three-star rating in 2008.

The Botanic Gardens was founded at its present site in 1859 by an agri-horticultural society. It played a pivotal role in the region's rubber trade boom in the early twentieth century, when its first scientific director Henry Nicholas Ridley, headed research into the plant's cultivation. By perfecting the technique of rubber extraction, still in use today, and promoting its economic value to planters in the region, rubber output expanded rapidly. At its height in the 1920s, the Malayan peninsula cornered half of the global latex production.

The National Orchid Garden, within the main gardens, is at the forefront of orchid studies and a pioneer in the cultivation of hybrids, complementing the nation's status as a major exporter of cut orchids. Aided by the equatorial climate, it houses the largest orchid collection of 1,200 species and 2,000 hybrids.

Early in the nation's independence, Singapore Botanic Gardens' expertise helped to transform the island into a tropical Garden City, an image for which the nation is widely known. In 1981, the hybrid climbing orchid, Vanda Miss Joaquim, was chosen as the nation's national flower. Singapore's "orchid diplomacy" honours visiting head of states, dignitaries and celebrities, by naming its finest hybrids after them; these are displayed at its popular VIP Orchid Gardens.

The Singapore's Botanic Gardens is open from 5 a.m. to 12 midnight daily. There is no admission fee, except for the National Orchid Garden. More than 10,000 species of flora is spread over its 82-hectares area, which is stretched vertically; the longest distance between the northern and southern ends is 2.5 km (1.6 mi). The Botanic Gardens receives about 4.5 million visitors annually.

National Orchid Garden, Singapore

The National Orchid Garden, located within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, was opened on 20 October 1995 by Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.

The Singapore Botanic Gardens has been developed along a 3-Core Concept. The three Cores consist of Tanglin, which is the heritage core that retains the old favourites and rustic charms of the historic Gardens; Central, which is the tourist belt of the Gardens; and Bukit Timah, which is the educational and recreational zone. Each Core offers an array of attractions.

The National Orchid Garden is located in the Central Core of the gardens.

The Garden is located on the highest hill in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Providing a place for 60,000 orchid plants - consisting of 1000 species and more than 2,000 hybrids - is the three hectares of carefully landscaped slopes.

The design concept presenting the display of plants in four separate colour zones: the spring zone with its prevailing colours of bright and lively shades of gold, yellow and creams; the summer zone with its major tones of strong reds and pinks; the autumn zone of matured shades; and the winter zone of whites and cool blues. A careful combination of selected trees, shrubs, herbs and orchids (mostly hybrids) with matching foliage and floral colours depicts the colour combination.

Established on 16 April 1912 and opened on 19 March 1914, the museum has maintained close relations with the University of Toronto throughout its history, often sharing expertise and resources.[2] The museum was under the direct control and management of the University of Toronto until 1968, when it became an independent institution.

A young piano Jazz prodigy performed at the well-known Friday Jazz at LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). Four young musicians joined the artist, consisting of drums, upright bass, trombone, and tenor sax. It was the opening act for Charles Owens, an American jazz saxophonist, and flutist. It was a superb evening.

Name: Sakana

Rank: Lieutenant

Expertise: Tactics, melee weapons

Weapons: DC-17m, beskade (mandalorian sword)

Equipment: Katarn armor, macrobinoculars, EMP grenades, kama, half cape

It was a miracle that we did survive the fight with Durge on Corellia. I can’t even remember much, despite running very, very fast and trowing as many EMPs as possible, to confuse this monster. We made it, but this battle has shown that we are in need of much, much more man- and firepower. Other than that, Corellia was a battlefield just to my taste. Cities, factories, urban warfare. That’s what an ARC is made for. Apparently, we managed to bring that across to our superiors, as I was promoted and all my requests for gear and a new recruit were granted. I’ll do my best to fill my new role as Lieutenant properly and be a good example for the men that now form Mizu Squad. And I’ll keep them alive, no matter the threat of monsters like Durge.

Number: CT-7007/2828

Name: Koi

Rank: Private

Expertise: Scouting, explosives, lock picking, stand up comedy

Weapons: DC-15, E-60R rocket launcher

Koi’s sharp eye and quick thinking have proven to be a life saving asset on Corellia for both, me and the civilians around. He’s a capable scout as well as demolitions expert with more intellect behind both those skills than I first imagined. By now, I put a lot of trust in him. After our mission on Corellia, his request for a personal rocket launcher, which he handed in when we came back from Vandos, was finally granted. We could have used it against Durge, for sure. Koi cares for it like it is his baby and I am sure we can expect the next mission to be much more explosive than the previous ones.

Number: CT-9004/7755

Name: Mag’ro

Rank: Private

Expertise:

Weapons: T-21B Target Rifle, tactical headlamp

Mag’ro is our newest addition to the squad, after we rescued him from the minefield inside the foundry complex. He is a silent fellow, but careful in his movements and a surprisingly fast runner, considering he escaped a crab droid on foot. And, by the Force, running has proven to be essential on Corellia. Mag’ro had no chance to prove his abilities to me, yet, but I give him the benefit of the doubt. If only half of what I heard is true, he’ll serve the squad well. His weapon of choice tells a lot about his mindset: Focused on the target and ready to throw a big punch. I like it.
