If this picture wasn't taken near San Diego, the boat in the distance would remind me of the phrase, "Any port in the storm." However, since this is Encinitas, I'm pretty sure the boat is just fine. Nice picture grabbed by RootMetrics scouters while testing mobile performance in the San Diego area.

I mounted the 55mm - 300mm lens to get this shot. The subject was 10' to 12' away and I shot @ f/5.6 (widest aperture available on this lens when stretched to 300mm) because my ISO was at a slow 100 and I was hand-holding the camera and also because I wanted maximum bokeh effect with a sharp focus on the nearest flowers. I had a little sun but I also used the camera-mounted built-in flash for fill. --- Encinitas, CA

Found this when looking through very old photos for fences, which are not normally things I take pictures of.

A glass mosaic put up secretly in the night. The result was a long debate because it was illegally placed, and thus subject to destruction. But almost everyone agreed that as art it was lovely and should be saved. (Most public disagreement was on grounds of religious art on public space.)

A crazy glitch in my Flickr uploader resulted in this zany abnormality. You can see the original one a couple shots up.

Met some friends and went to the street faire yesterday afternoon. They had a cool Dog Zone where the kids could do an agility course too. First time we had been there. Much like other fairs...now we can say we have been. I can't say why I didn't take more photos though.

Bikes mean business along the Leucadia and Encinitas 101 businesses. One hundred bikes or more can fit in four parking spots for cars. That is one hundred customers.
