close up of embossing on cupcake

Embossed Leaves #1 from Interweave Knits is done! This pattern is surprisingly easier than it looks. The lace pattern knits up so quickly and makes a very comfy, cozy sock.

I used Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn in Cranberry, a nearly solid colorway.

Same vector graphic as the other plates, but extruded higher than the others. Victoria wanted to see if it would result in some difference detail or texture, but there were some problems. The more the features are extruded, the weaker they are and the more prone to breaking. The printing press applies a tremendous amount of force to the plate, so some detail was destroyed in this plate. But every result is a good result!

Image started out as an embossed photo paper colored with alcohol inks. Hue edited. Curves feature used to deepen the Midtones. Repeating pattern created from edited image. Hue/Saturation used to change the image color. Paint.net used for all image edits.

I don't do "pretty" so how come this card turned out the way it did?

Covered Frame with Aged Rose Embossing Enamel. Stamp is Grape Label by Stampendous

I pulled out SSS Bouquet of Roses stencil for a watercolor technique. The stencil was put on top of a watercolor panel. Then I added color with dye ink pads & spritzed with water & shimmer mist. Then I put another wc panel on top of the stencil & used a brayer. You then have 2 panels. This card was made with the top panel which I cut down to eliminate edges I didn't like. Before adding it to a gray mat, I put the stencil back in place & ran it through my die cut machine using a rubber mat to emboss the image. It's really neat in person. The sentiment is Poppystamps Scribble Hello which I stacked & then covered with silver Pico Embellisher which has a beautiful shine. Brass-embossed furniture is an attraction

5th pair of the year. This yarn is a mystery yarn with no label. I think I got it as a gift but I'm not sure. It made pretty socks though.

Also, Mister is kind of bored with all the socks but as the 6th pair is already on the needles, he'll just need to deal with it.

All these little tools have assorted prints that get embossed on tea pots, serving trays and much more. It is said that the craftsmen have the resulting pattern in their head and work without sketches

Embossed Leaves Socks (pattern) were one of the first projects I made from a pattern in English, back in May 2006. It was a bit intimidating at first, but once you get a hang of the terminology it's actually not that hard! Yarn is Regia (nearly 1.5 bundles), needles size 2.5mm.

Just love the patterns on napkins !
