On the southern tip of Vancouver Island there is a beautiful beach where the tide pools are magical and the environment pristine. The waves gradually wear away the embankment and reveal stones embedded in the ancient mud. This is a vertical surface. You can see the orientation of the face in this shot.

Great Ouse Bedford in spring when vibrant colours of nature are displaying serene views. Beauty of nature inviting travellers and residents to refresh their thoughts and pause the worries for a moment, to praise the creator for creating such beautiful views.

The Victoria Embankment Gardens are a series of gardens on the north side of the River Thames between Blackfriars Bridge and Westminster Bridge in London.

Between 1865 and 1870 the northern embankment and sewer was built by Sir Joseph Bazalgette. In 1874 gardens were created on the reclaimed land on the inward side of the roadway named Victoria Embankment. There were four sections created, the Temple Garden to the east, the Main Gardens to the west (originally known as the Adelphi Gardens), and two other sections to the south following the bend of the Thames. The gardens are now under the control of the City of Westminster.

Beginning of the embankment leading over the Grasse River. Used to be much longer and more obvious before somebody built their house on top of it! This used to be a bridge until they took tailings from the Stellaville mine (one railroad to the south) and buried it. That was common practice: build a bridge expecting to turn it into an embankment later. Also see behind me.

On the Monsal Trail

On the run into Headstone Tunnel.

The Monsal Trail runs along the former Midland Railway line for 8.5 miles between Blackwell Mill, in Chee Dale and Coombs Road, at Bakewell.

Most of the route was opened to the public in 1981 but four former railway tunnels had to remain closed due to safety reasons, with public footpaths taking people around them. From 25 May 2011 the four railway tunnels - Headstone Tunnel, Cressbrook Tunnel, Litton Tunnel, Chee Tor Tunnel – will also open for trail users. Each tunnel is about 400 metres long and will be lit during normal daylight hours.

Foresters Walk, Ashridge.

This section of the Foresters Walk is called the Ladies Walk. Apparently the embankment formed a boundary but I’m not sure what between. Possibly the Ashridge Estate and Berkhamsted Common?

"Embankment", by Rachel Whiteread @ the Tate Modern, Turbine Hall

This approach embankment to a new highway bridge is under construction. There is erosion and instability of the slide slopes dues to water ponding in a coarse soil layer that will form the sub-base of the new road.

mini-concert thing in the park at embankment.

I really ought to look at the Instruction Manual for my camera so I could get better shots in these conditions. Oh well.
