With the advent of LED the days of the old filament type bulb are long gone. Difficult to now find them in the shops.

I don't even really like this movie, but once I get an idea, I can't stop. I just got the Luke in Bacta figure and had the thought that it could work as a Leeloo, so I did it... and made a couple other figures to go with lol

It was surprisingly hard to find good source images for this one! One of the most helpful things to get their outfits right was the collection of Funko POPs lol

I seem to be in an "academic" groove this morning... this gymnasium net reminds me of the deformable meshes used in finite element analysis.

In his element, this is Banquo. He is the primary reason for my understanding of Scott's grief.

Banquo was, well, put simply: impressive. Look at that gaze! He's scanning the hill, both form and function built into that mighty physique. A gentle giant, he could stand on this back legs, forepaws on my shoulders, and look me in the eye. One night as I came out of the dark, unannounced, his challenge curdled my blood — deeper, more resolute, more final than any I'd heard before, or since. It was nothing manic, it wasn't a threat. It was a promise.

He took that presence into the show ring where he was awarded again and again for his perfection. His career was short. He was a two speed dog! His fearless approach to life meant inevitably he was injured in ways that left him without his true gait. The show ring rewards conformational perfection; tested in trotting manoeuvres. And so, with his Champion Award banked early, he retired, still head of the pack, still at home on the hill, at home in driven sleet, fully engaged in his favourite fantasy of stags and hounds, keen as always — forever.

Fifth Element is one of the movies I’ll watch over and over again.

I’ve been working on this taxi from the movie for quite a long time and finished it today. Difficulty in getting the right parts (and learning a few things about some popular Bricklink sellers), a mishap that caused me to order a new set of stickers, plus this is a fragile model and has come apart more than once. But it’s done and as soon as I find the minifigs I bought to go with it…

One aspect that I love about almost any art-form is the 'element of chance' ... the unexpected texture in a batik, the random decision when making a mosaic that turns out to be a key feature, and the unexpected subject matter in a photograph.

I'd been sitting outside in my garden to eat lunch and I spotted a spider that appeared as if it was dangling in mid-air.

So I thought it'd make a cool shot to focus in as close as I could and align the spider above the streetlight or over my neighbour's roof. The auto focus took a bit of convincing to highlight the spider.

It wasn't until I downloaded the shots that I'd taken that I realized how the lens had picked up the finesse of the fine strands (that I hadn't seen) that make up the fine art of the spider's web against the clear blue sky and the darkness of the faded Buddleia, and I liked it so much that I cropped the image to include the spider's lunch, but not the spider itself.

Grey Heron on Roath Brook with what was probably paper or cardboard in its beak, Fortunately it decided it was not a suitable snack and dropped it, Note how shallow the water was because of the lack of significant rainfall recently.

For the Bio-Cup 2018 preliminary round.

The theme was "Elements." I chose Element 32506, Bionicle Claw with Axle.

The double-revolved staircase is undeniably the most striking architectural feature of the castle. Although invisible in the outer silhouette of the castle, its place in the center of the immense square dungeon that serves as a showcase puts it in a previously unseen way. It consists of a central pierced core around which are wound, one above the other, two banisters to serve the main floors of the building. A marvel of inventiveness that recalls the sketches of Leonardo da Vinci ... This staircase where, as if by magic, we can climb on each side without ever meeting while following each other's eyes, continues to exert on its spectators the same fascination that on the first day.

On the second floor of the donjon, the cross hall creates a surprise: each of its arms is covered with an immense vault with low arched bowls, adorned with the emblems of François I: the monogram "F", salamanders spitting from the water to extinguish the bad fire, salamanders swallowing the good fire and knotted cords. Repeated hundreds of times, these emblems in high relief testify to the will of the king to mark the last ceilings of the dungeon. In addition, these powerful vaults receive the weight of the paved terraces of the upper level, while including an ingenious system of rainwater evacuation.
