The locals tell a tale of a wealthy man who became mad from a broken heart when his wife left him. He never finished the castle. 60 years on, the castle still radiated out sorrow. It reminded me of the castle in "Great Expectations" (Charles Dickens) where lived the wealthy, half-mad Miss Havisham who was jilted on her wedding day

09.24 -- photo by Cheryl Loeb-Cole -- The 2016 Plane Pull was the biggest yet! More than 50 teams took to the tarmac at Newark Liberty International Airport to test their strength and see if they could move a Boeing 737 airplane. The event blew all expectations out of the water, raising more than $101,000! This year's Plane Pull was hosted by Law Enforcement Torch Run for SONJ, and supported by The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, United Airlines and The New Jersey State Firefighters' Mutual Benevolent Association. Great job to all participants!
At the beginning of my Mind Mapping Techniques Workshop, I summarized the participant´s expectations with a live mindmap.
Lucky for me a part of my family lives near Rajouri Garden or I would have never had a chance to visit The California Boulevard. It is quite an interesting place. I went to this restaurant with very low expectations which is why when I entered I was absolutely thrilled to see the space they have created.
This restaurant has been around for less than a year but it was bustling with people and everyone seemed rather happy. The place had a very lively vibe. The California Boulevard is a great place to pick for a fun weekend party with friends.
I love movies and The California Boulevard is all about Hollywood and celebrities. The restaurant even has a real Harley Davidson! I love desserts and because the restaurant was celebrating Cameron Diaz’s birthday the day we went there and we got to dig into it. It was absolutely divine.
Even though The California Boulevard is a party place and there were tons of people in there, the staff still ensured that we were well cared for. They ensured that our glasses were always full and we got our courses in quick succession.
Multi-cuisine restaurants always make me nervous. I always feel it is best for restaurants to just specialise in one cuisine but this restaurant pleasantly surprised me. Even though they had a lot of items on the menu, the restaurant’s chef did a great job in whipping us up a treat.
Our starters included “Nachos” (Rs. 165), “Dilli ki Chat” (Rs. 145), “Prawn Spring Rolls” (Rs. 225) and “Cheesy Chicken Chowder” (Rs. 175). The Dilli ki Chat and Cheesy Chicken Chowder were recommended by the Chef and were signature dishes of the restaurant. I quite enjoyed my starters, the soup in particular was exquisite.
Our delicious starters left us craving for more. The “Wok Fried Chicken” (Rs. 325) had been marinated with soy and garlic and tossed with basil and fresh red chillies. The flavours were absolutely wonderful and this was one of the nicest things I ate at this restaurant. I coupled this with a lovely caprioska. The one I picked was a “Cucumber and Basil Caprioska” (Rs. 275).
Next up a delicious “Honey Chilly Red Snapper” (Rs. 455). Perfection lies in simplicity, this was simple wok tossed fish with sweet chilly sauce but for me it was absolutely “spot on”. We also ordered an Indian main course dish – “Gosht Nihari” (Rs. 365). The fragrant lamb jus and saffron were to die for.
The end to my meal was rather happy because I got to try three different desserts, thanks to my friends who are just as dessert obsessed as I am. We started with Flambé Baileys Jamun (Rs. 175), Spanish Churros (Rs. 175) and TCB Kulfi Gazzak Ferrous (Rs. 195). The last dessert was really special, created with the popular Indian dessert Gazzak and the ingredient that every dessert must have – chocolate, the chefs had manage to create a finger-licking delight on the plate. All three of us closed our eyes to savour this unusual treat. I know you will too!
XOXO

St James, Cooling, Kent
These children's anthropomorphic gravestones provided Charles Dickens with the inspiration for Pip's poor dead brothers in his novel Great Expectations. In fact, they are to members of the wealthy Comport family, some of whom lived at Cooling Castle, today home of the television personality Jools Holland. The opening scene of Great Expectations, when Pip meets the convict Abel Magwitch, takes place in Cooling churchyard.
As I never saw my father or my mother, and never saw any likeness of either of them (for their days were long before the days of photographs), my first fancies regarding what they were like, were unreasonably derived from their tombstones. The shape of the letters on my father's, gave me an odd idea that he was a square, stout, dark man, with curly black hair. From the character and turn of the inscription, "Also Georgiana Wife of the Above," I drew a childish conclusion that my mother was freckled and sickly. To five little stone lozenges, each about a foot and a half long, which were arranged in a neat row beside their grave, and were sacred to the memory of five little brothers of mine - who gave up trying to get a living, exceedingly early in that universal struggle - I am indebted for a belief I religiously entertained that they had all been born on their backs with their hands in their trousers-pockets, and had never taken them out in this state of existence."

This is a photograph from the 35th Michael Manning Memorial "Dunshaughlin 10KM" Road Race and Fun Run which took place in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, Ireland on Saturday 21st June 2014 at 19:30. This race is widely acknowledged in the running community as one of the best races in Ireland. It is also one of the oldest 10KM races in Ireland. The numbers for this race have exceeded expectations year on year for the past number of years. In 2008 a record field of 306 took to the start line but by 2012 this number had more than doubled with 647 runners taking part. The starting numbers in 2013 topped this again at 668. Then this year the numbers rocketed to a new record of 883. Who knows but this race could reach 1,000 entrants next year. The work of the organising committee must be commended on making this event possible. The Dunshaughlin 10KM has earned it's place at the top of the pedestal of Irish running through the sheer hard work of Dunshaughlin AC over the years. Well done to all.
We have an extensive set of photographs from the race tonight taken at the 1 mile mark and then at the 400M and 600M to go mark. The full set is available at: www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157645329098733/

We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Creative Commons aims to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

Few places have ever shattered my expectations like Nicaragua. From some of the Caribbean's most stunning island paradises to laid-back colonial towns, thick, mysterious jungles and bustling metro centers, Nicaragua offers a taste of something exciting for everyone.

My expectations before visiting the doctor last Friday were that I would be able to walk again normally from that day on. The reality is that each time I stand on this foot and I walk, my hurted foot and leg starts to burn. Friday I could only walk for 5 minutes without sitting. Today, Sunday I can already walk for 10 :D

8/9/10 Monday
Thought for today from Hope for Today: "Can I express myself today, free of expectations of how others will react?"

I'm doing better this morning. I actually had the thought, if I hadn't forgotten my glasses, I would be excited and not wanting to go home. How ridiculous is that? I choose what to worry about and I can choose to not worry. That's what I'm going to try to do. Not worry. It's Monday already. We leave for Ocho Rios in five days. Home in six. The days are long but fly by, from what I can remember. God is already working, I feel like.

It's pretty safe to say I have the best mom in the world. She knows exactly what I need to hear to push me but in a kind and loving way. The note is about how none of us know what is "best" for us. Only God does. "requests for guidance, for an open mind to receive it, and for courage and confidence to use it." That is exactly what I need to do. I need to pray for God to speak through me, like in the Al-Anon reading, and to be courageous enough to do so. Like Mom's note says.

Thank You for this opportunity, Lord. I hope to serve You well and in turn, grow closer than I could've imagined.

I am so exhausted. First day of Harmons! Walked around this morning after an extremely long orientation. Summer staff wasn't there. They are now, I think. They are having a debriefing week.

Going to Morrisontown was easier this year.
--
I worked with J the whole time, so it was nice to get to know him a little. He actually works at Meck, so that's why I see him everywhere.
--
I had dinner with R, the teen, not the leader. He's going to be a senior, which I never would've guessed. I thought probably a rising sophmore. He's a nice guy too.
--
Tonight was music night. I finally got one girl to dance with me and she became my buddy. She asked could we be penpals, so we exchanged emails and addresses. She won't be there tomorrow, but hopefully Wednesday.
--
Tonight I danced like no one was watching and it felt great with Malkia by my side. Uncrowded dance floor, at that. I'm growing. God is challenging me.

Some photos I took in the studio on school today, the inspiration was Munch and the photos are "Art photography".
Went to look round a house today. There's a new development being built in a lovely village just outside Bristol - the kind of lovely village that has great schools, beautiful views, a fantastic community feel... and no houses on the market because noone wants to leave.
We've been talking in a very abstract sense about moving for some time, but I'd always said not yet. Until I saw this development. I am clearly a marketing executive's dream - in my head I've already moved in, despite the fact that not a brick has been laid yet. Oh dear.
Since no houses are built on this site yet, we had to travel to Bridgwater to see a show home of the same type on a different development. The show home was a work of art - they clearly have their target demographic very well characterised - with this wedding dress on a mannequin in the sewing room/4th bedroom. Oh so aspirational donchathink?
So all in all I think this is a pretty appropriate picture for Great Expectations in the scavenger hunt, though admittedly it's a little less cobwebby than Miss Haversham's dress.
