...is a distinctive 54 m high calcite rock in the Špraněk nature preserve. On top stood a medieval castle, the way down passes through the largest rock gate in Moravia, and in the inside hides a large undergroung cavern system. The whole area is very beautiful and romantic at any time of the year.
Athe top stood a strong gothic castle founded somwhere around the beginning of the 14th Century, which soon vanished in the markgrave wars between members of the Luxembourg family at the end of the same Century.
Distinctive green eyes, following information culled from Wikipedia - Abisara echerius, the Plum Judy, is a small but striking butterfly found in Asia belonging to the Punches and Judies family (Riodinidae). This active butterfly is usually seen at the tops of trees and amidst foliage. It has a habit of landing and turning around almost immediately after alighting. It repeats this turning movements as it moves along branches. This is believed to help in evading predators by causing confusion about head orientation.
This distinctive mode of movement gives the impression of dancing and is an important field characteristic that helps in identifying the species from even a distance

Distinctive dark waterbird that resembles a cross between a duck and a chicken. Adults have a bright red bill with a yellow tip, while immatures have a duller bill and legs. Note big white oval patches under the tail, and white streaks along the flanks. Inhabits fresh and brackish marshes, on ponds, lakes, and along slow-moving watercourses with bordering vegetation. Smaller and more retiring than coot, and rarely far out on open water. Swims with jerky motion and walks with stealthy gait, the tail often slightly cocked; does not usually dive. Gives a variety of loud, somewhat frog-like calls.

Very sweet, but in need of constant reasurance. She is 90% blind. Sometimes sees movement and blurs. Mainly navigates by smell.
The distinctive poles supporting the overhead have all been recovered from former tram and trolleybus systems, in many cases restored to their original length by specialist welding. They are set in concrete to a depth of about 2 metres. The trolley wire is grooved copper alloy, 4/0 gauge (80 sq. mm), suspended either from bracket arms or on span-wire construction, at a normal height of 6 metres. A second (negative) wire is provided in the Depot area, for safety earthing purposes, and for test-running the trolleybus. The trams are all fitted with trolley poles and carbon-slipper trolley heads, and return their traction current via the running rails. Overhead fittings have been salvaged from the Newcastle, South Shields, Tees-side and Bradford systems, and in the Town area period fittings have been used wherever practicable. Trams use a single wire with the negative route via the rails, whilst trolleybuses use a pair of wires, the negative being one of this pair.

The highest mountain in the Czech Republic, a distinctive trihedral pyramid, is elevated 1,603 metres above sea level.
The north slopes fall on the Polish side in the valley of the Lomnička, while on the southern side in the Obří Důl. The name is derived from the adjective Sněžná i.e. covered with snow. It is believed that Mount Sněžka was climbed for the first time by an unknown Venetian in 1456.
The oldest building on Sněžka is the chapel of Saint Lawrence built between 1655 and 1681.
From 1949 to 2012 a chairlift from Pec pod Sněžkou went to Sněžka.
The highest post office in Bohemia is located on the peak of Sněžka. The new post office was opened in August 2008. In addition to sending correspondence, hikers can also buy a hiking stamp, find refreshments and, in the case of inclement weather, hide from the wind and rain. The viewing terrace offers a breath-taking view of Poland and the Czech Republic.

Turisté zde mohou nejenom podat listovní zásilku, ale i koupit turistickou známku, najdou zde malé občerstvení a v případě nevlídného počasí se zde mohou schovat před větrem a deštěm. Vyhlídková terasa nabízí úchvatný rozhled do Polska a České republiky.
Castilleja foliolosa, distinctive yellow to white or pale orange population, Watkins Gate Rd., N of junction with Parker Flats Rd., Fort Ord National Monument, Monterey Co., CA, 11 May 2016.
This distinctive race differs from almost all populations of C. foliolosa in its predominately pale-colored inflorescences. While most plants here are pale yellow, some range to almost white on one side and to a pale, peachy-orange on the other. I did not observe any of the red to reddish-orange braced plants typical of most populations of this species. The Ft. Ord plants are also distinctive in that the distal portion of the central lobe of the bracts are very frequently serrated, bearing short, triangular tenth on the top edge. These plants deserve further study and genetic sampling to see if they merit nomenclatural recognition.
This one is perplexing me, it look quite distinctive, but I have absolutely no idea where to even begin, at this point I am not even totally sure that it is not a lichenized fungi! The closest I get is Mycoglaena, but I am not convinced

Asci variable, octospored, mostly immature, usually somewhat biseriate, with a conspicuous apparatus at the top.
Spore hyaline (even clearly overmature spore are pale), 45-60 X 11-13u, dictyospore with one evident central septa, which often constrict the spore to the point of cutting the spore into two part spore. the remaining septa are very faint and difficult to observe.
Almost all the Cassin's Finches that stayed here over the winter have moved on, so now it is a treat to see a Cassin's Finch come by the Nature Center. This is eaither an adult female or a male that has not molted into the distinctive neon red colors characteristic of the species.

Khnum on the right, was an ancient Egyptian god associated with creation, water, fertility, and the Nile River. He was often depicted as a man with the head of a ram.
Puri has a very wide and distinctive selection of handicrafts. Best known is probably the applique work of Pipili. Pipili is on the way from Puri to Bhubaneswar. It is 40 kilometres from Puri, at the junction where the Konark road branches from the Bhubaneswar to Puri road. It is a small village. On the main road at Pipili there are many shops selling Appliquework products, tourist visiting Puri buy these products from Pipili. It is famous in Orissa as well as in India for it's applique craft. Each and every family of the village engaged themeselves in this applique craft. Applique, a French term, is a technique by which various cutting pieces of coloured fabrics are applied to the surface of another foundation fabric. Applique works of Pipili is also known as patching cloth design and in local language this handicraft is known as 'Chandua'.
Samiana(Canopies) and chhatris(umbrellas) that bear magnificent appliques and designs of great artistic skill are manufactured at pipili and puri. It is a hereditary craft. Brightly coloured patches of fabric, cut into animal and flower shapes, are sewn onto bed covers, cushions, wall hangings etc. The art form typically depended on four basis colours, red, white, black and yellow to produce a striking effect.
Any type of worship is incomplete without pipili chandua. Canopies, chhatries and tarasas made in applique process are increasingly finding place in festivities. In every religious geity be it the car festival or the minor event of festive, shamiana or the canopies are displayed significantly. Wide scale use of shamiana are seen in the various festival of Lord Jagannath. Since the Lord's rituals are more of the nature ofthe daily routine of human being, fan, umbrella of applique work are in rampant use to save the deity from the scorching heat of Sun or the rough weather. In chandan yatra the entire procession is taken out displaying and covering the deities with chattris of applique work. Further, the chandua another marvel of applique work has become a household commodity in almost every religious work.
Besides used in the religious function, with the touch of a little modernity, garments of varied designs are also made with it.
The village of Pipili derived its name from Pirs, holy Muslim saints who lived in this area. But, their craft was used in Hindu temples, especially the Puri Jagannath temple. Be it the Car Festival, Snana Jatra (annual ritual of bathing festival), Chaitra festival or the Darji Seva, these Chandua artisans weaved their creative magic almost everywhere. And it was for these very temple rituals and festivals that the then Kalinga Emperor awarded a piece of land at today’s Pipili to these artisans so that they could flourish their art and craft here.
