From the Philippines. Named for Jim Cootes, a world authority and author of The Orchids of the Philippines

Dendrochilum wenzelii, a small epiphytic orchid native to the Philippines where it occurs with a fairly restricted distribution in mountainous areas. It has narrow, rather grassy foliage and an abundance of short red flower stems. This plant appears to be of the smallest varieties of the species, about half the size of all other plants I've seen.
