this one was a surprise. was looking at the blooms of the dendrochilum javieri and had to move this one to try to take a picture. flower is about the size of a thumbnail
Dendrochilum wenzelii .. Each flower has a natural spread of 1cm, with a average of 32 Flowers per inflorescence, there are about 100 inflorescences in all, Flowers are a nice bright Orange Red and resemble Wheat Tassels. I grow this plant ia a wooden 6 inch slat basket with spragum moss as the medium
A friend insisted on giving me a piece of this although I was sure it would not grow outdoors for me. To my pleasant surprise it is doing very well. In a 3-inch pot.

Dendrochilum magnum is an orchid endemic to the Philippines. Individual flowers are larger than most others in the genus at only about 7 mm but it produces wonderful trailing inflorescences that are pleasantly fragrant.

Now identified by Jeffrey Wood as Dendrochilum johannis-winkleri. It would appear that this is a new distribution record for this species as it has previously been located in Kalimantan and Brunei.
