This was another spider I'd added to the family last night. The hobo didn't seem bothered by it but this is all we found of it this morning.

Part of a panorama I need to stitch together.

Visit Amazing Hong Kong | Victoria Peak or The Peak on Hong Kong Island

Locally called The Peak, officially called Victoria Peak but administratively it is called Mount Austin, 552m or 1,811 ft in height, historically home to the very wealthy since the late 19th Century, US$100 - US$150 Million + homes are very common, the most expensive house (The Pink House on Pollocks Path) sold for US$410 Million in 2017. (Now demolished)

Fabulous skyline views of Victoria Harbour and the City are why The Peak should be your number one priority to visit and it is served by the iconic Peak Tram (Funicular Railway). The highest viewing points for the iconic city view are from the Peak Tower (428m or 1,400ft) and roughly the same from a point on Lugard Road which joins up with Harlech Road to circle The Peak.

The iconic and world famous Peak Tram which has been running since 1888 re-opened for business on 27th August 2022 after a major upgrade covering every area of the "attraction" including almost doubling the capacity of the tram by using brand new carriages, the new 6th Generation Green Tram has a capacity of 210 passengers.up from 120.

☛ I have prepared very detailed How To Get To guides for 3 major attractions at Victoria Peak should you wish to explore on your own, they are image and information heavy and work very well on mobile phones.

The most astonishing Hong Kong city view is from a very specific point on Lugard Road (called the Lugard Road Lookout) roughly a 20 minute scenic walk from the Peak Tower (ish), closely followed by a specific point on Barker Road, nice views can still be had from the Peak Tower (requires a hefty payment) the Peak Galleria (free) and the Lion’s Pavilion (free) - there is NO city or harbour view from Victoria Peak Garden.

... and did I mention the night view of the City? On a clear night the view from any location mentioned above is quite staggering and from the Lugard Road Lookout it takes your breath away.

The best views occur in the Hong Kong summer from May to September with beautiful clear and sunny days particularly in July and August and naturally it is 32 oC ish (90 oF) with 90% humidity! Autumn and Winter in Hong Kong can be grey, cool, cloudy but on sunny days - WOW! Spring can be humid and very foggy - bear in mind even on grey cloudy days it can still be very clear at The Peak.

I'm looking for suggestions as to what to replace this fixture with.

This collection of apartments, empty for years was finally demolished.

BEIJING, CHINA -(more photos in my website: www.photohope.com ) Many old hutong in beijing were going to put down (demolish) nowaday before 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

These houses are located in a small neighborhood at the corner of Reading Road and Martin Luther King Drive in Cincinnati's Avondale neighborhood. These houses have survived the mass-demolition the small neighborhood has seen that has claimed most of the houses, though they appear to be on track to be bought up and demolished as part of the Uptown Innovation Corridor plan that envisions the area being turned into a super-block home to a massive research facility, with NIOSH appearing to be eyeing the site for their new research facility. The neighborhood's disappearance is leading to the loss of affordable housing for low-income residents, whom had historically inhabited the area. The lack of mitigation or consideration of the needs of the people who have inhabited neighborhoods such as this one seems to be a constant theme in decisions made by the current city government, which I am very critical of. Hopefully, things can change, and neighborhoods such as this one won't disappear in this manner in the future.

A half demolished houtong ally in Beijing, China. With China's race towards being a first world country, more and more older housings are being destroyed to make room for modern developments.

We visited two houses that were demolished by the Israeli army yesterday (28th Nov) in the Jenin area close to the Wall. They were bulit 'without permits' (Palestinians need a permit from Israelies to build in areas in the WEst Bank that are fully under Israeli control but are never given them when applied)...

This building is now demolished. Pacific Street in the Atlantic Railyards project footprint.
