The first rays of sunrise spill into the Tidal Basin and onto the bright pink and white petals of the cherry blossom trees as the Washington Monument stands watch over DC. A perfectly clear Sunday sky provides the perfect setting for the tens of thousands of visitors taking in the scene across the city this weekend.

I havent been down to see the cherry blossoms for a couple of years so went down this past Friday. Peak bloom is Monday, but I will be tied up. However, even though early there were lots of blossoms..and of course, lots of people!

Washington D.C. Tidal Basin, Cherry Blossoms Before Dawn...

Windy enough to make it tough; mostly overcast but thin enough for the moon to punch through after gaining elevation..

I tried focus stacking on this, worked out pretty well.

I wouldn't suggest to attend this during weekend... way too many people.

This bird also supports dc statehood. And cherry blossoms.

There's one huge cherry tree blossoming right now in Logan Circle, and it's gorgeous. I just know it supports dc statehood. Also I know that the cherry blossoms are limited at the Tidal Basin this year, so I'm thankful there are so many cherry blossoms in the actual DC neighborhoods too!

One of the cherry blossom trees by Washington, D.C.'s Tidal Basin had a blossom growing at the base of its trunk. The bunch of blossoms made for the perfect subject, as they were within arm's reach and had the nicely textured tree's trunk as a background. This picture is taken looking up the trunk of the tree.
