The Rohingya Refugee Women in Bangladesh.

They lost their citizenship status in Myanmar, then someone lost her husband, someone lost her child, someone has lost his parents, Someone has lost his wife, Young women are raped by the Myanmar Army every day, Then, Killing him burned in the fire, somebody’s throat cut and killed they says. This story is the Rohingya people of Myanmar.

The Myanmar army and Buddhist Fundamentalism terrorist are killing common and innocent people irrespective of their caste and creed in the name of cleansing the Rohingyas. Because Rohingya Peoples are fleeing and entering to Bangladesh for save their lives. The government of Bangladesh and the general people are giving shelter to humanitarian causes and extended their hands to sympathy. But no one wants that these Rohingya refugees stay in Bangladesh for a long time.

Rohingya refugees who come to Bangladesh are saying: Myanmar Army is genocide of Rohingya Muslims and burning their homes every day, raping young girls then cut his throat and kill him and some time burned killing. According to the United Nations and Government of Bangladesh newly arrived till now, more than 700.000 thousand of Rohingya Muslims people entered in Bangladesh through different borders of Myanmar-Bangladesh. And there are old, nearly 500.000 thousand Rohingya refugees. Total Rohingya refugee enters in Bangladesh about 12 million. Every day refugees are increasing among them; there are more number of women, pregnant woman, children and old people. According to the UNHCR sources, 50 thousand Rohingya children will be born within the next six months in Rohingya refugee camp, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Spending numerous hours on the internet daily, I use it for socialising, researching and keeping up with current affairs. This has lead me to a psychological interest in social media and how technology has changed the way we represent ourselves within the digital world, both aesthetically and integrationally, through a number of different expressive visuals like photography and written text.

My practice combines collaborating various surfaces with mixed media to represent what we immerse ourselves in digitally. I’m creating these visuals on 2 dimensional planes to express my emotional and personal response of my own development within the current digital era producing that fleeting moment of self awareness through the subject of Selfies and consciously edited portrayals that is shared daily on the internet.

We sit in front of the many different screens everyday, monitors, TV’s, tablets and mobile phones, and it is generally a solo experience. I am using my own impression to portray cyber space and how we fail to control where our online uploads and information goes. Using mirrors I am bouncing reflections within a confined space that I have constructed to have the same infinitive quality of the world wide web and to recapture that solitary experience within the space of the work.

I hesitated to draw this one. For one thing, I really don't like to involve my little bimbos too deeply into politics/current affairs. For another thing, she's some Daddy's Little Girl, and she's probably as precious to him as my daughters are to me and I wouldn't want them held up to public ridicule. And, for yet another thing, I'm a Christian myself and President Obama DID say the exact same thing, and on the face of it I agree with both of them. The difference is, President Obama and I are expressing personal beliefs, while I get the distinct feeling she is one of those "Covenant" types from the Christian Taliban who won't be happy until every infidel in the world either converts to their beliefs or dies by their swords wielded in the Righteous Wrath of God--in short, the same Deuteronomical 1st Century neo-con "salvation through The Law rather than through Faith" types that St. Paul repeatedly warns us about. Not to mention those of the small town "Sister Bertha Better-Than-You" ilk who told me my Dad was going to hell because he worked on Sundays (they were only worried about future fires, and didn't seem to recognize there were fires here and now that had to be dealt with, which meant the DFD had to keep their engine and truck companies manned 24/7)

Of course, in her defense, I have to wonder why they are asking these girls ANYTHING. These aren't the playoffs for the G.E. College Bowl (yes, I'm dating myself), they're BEAUTY CONTESTS, a kind of Oscars for Plastic Surgeon of the Year, a competition based on who has the prettiest face, the shapeliest legs and the best "yummy bits" in between--on who started with the best DNA and turned it into the best TnA. Who the hell cares what they think (?) about anything in a general, much less what a bikini model's views on morality are? If I've got any burning theological questions I need answered, I'll sit there quietly sipping my beer until a priest, a minister, and a rabbi walk into the bar, see.

The Origins of Kababayang Pilipino

by Mary Christine (Faron) Chan

kababayangpilipino.org/folk/site/company/the_origins/

(February 2003) - It was a decade ago last month when I first walked into Randy`s office at the UBC Student Union Building resolute in my purpose. I had just arrived from a whirlwind visit to the Philippines, the first in nearly 15 years. It had felt like a forced family junket when we departed for Manila in mid-December, along with other family friends - the Correas, the Romeros, the Mangalindans, and the Losanezs. But when the time to return to Vancouver came two weeks later, I felt torn leaving a family, a country, a culture I had known of all my life, but only then had discovered. Vancouver seemed dismal in the wet grey of winter, compelling me all the more to long for the warmth of the people and the climate of the Philippines. It was then that I realized how important my culture had become to me. How being Filipino was more than eating certain foods, laughing at certain jokes, or being brought up a certain way. Being Filipino is about expressing all of who I am as a Filipino Canadian in the face of a multicultural Canada, and proudly carrying the legacy of culture and heritage of the Filipino people that came before me - they who had made the sacrifices that brought me here today.

For this reason I was determined to make the meaning of that sacrifice relevant in the lives of those who had the blessing of a North American upbringing. Many of us, either born on Canadian soil or transplanted early from the homeland, had lacked the sensual first hand experience of the Philippine landscape and people. But we knew something about it through the dances we had learned at a young age. From the vigours of planting rice, to the coy traditions of courtship, to the religious rituals of a community, Filipino performing arts told the stories of the people and culture from which they were born. This was to become the medium through which we, as Filipino Canadians, would tell our collective story. And such was the proposal I made to Randy that afternoon, not knowing what would come of such a seemingly grand venture, but knowing only that our will was strong and our dedication unwavering.

Less than a month later, a group of 40 friends and acquaintances gathered in the living room of my parents` home in a cheery cul-de-sac. The meeting had a sole purpose: to propose the production of a community performance celebrating the music, dance, and song of our Filipino heritage. Upon sharing our common experiences growing up in the Filipino culture, it became clear that we were not alone in searching for that tangible expression of ourselves. The response was overwhelming and infectious. Before long, we had secured a strong following from across Vancouver and established a wonderful partnership with the then recently-formed Samahan ng Kabataan at SFU and the Filipino Students Association at UBC. The result was an amazing production in 1994 titled, Ang Bayan Ko - My Country, My Homeland. It was 10 months in the making - a culmination of absolute dedication, tears of difficulty, and overall, extremely hard work on the part of performers, parents, and production support. We presented our premier show at Richmond`s Gateway Theatre in November 1994, surprising our nearly sold-out audience - and ourselves - with our accomplishment. It became our standard of excellence upon which future shows were measured and improved upon.

So why is this important? How is KP`s history relevant? As the old adage goes: only in looking to your past can you know where you are today, that you may be confident in the direction of tomorrow. Today, we celebrate 10 years of KP. A decade that has seen over a dozen mainstage performances, over a hundred appearances in Canada and the U.S., and over two hundred committed volunteers and performers. That we have such a milestone to celebrate can only further affirm our need to continue the tradition that we founded together. Though many of us have moved on to a different phase in our lives, even a different place altogether, the legacy of what KP has become continues to rest with us.

And so we continue to gather, old and new for a dual purpose: for celebration and an invitation. As we cross the thresholds of milestones each year, we open the door to new hopes, aspirations, and opportunities. Thus, to you all I say: come and take your place among a cast of excellence and be part of our journey of cultural discovery that is Kababayang Pilipino. We welcome you to our stage.

The Duke of Edinburgh in Windsor for the Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations.

“When I used to watch Angela D’Audney reading the news all those years ago, I never imagined I would ever be wiping bird excrement off her headstone. It is an honour.” (John Currie, 2017) My husband said to me as we stood at the graveside of the much loved and respected radio broadcaster and TV presenter who over the course of her almost 40 year career must have been beamed into nearly every New Zealand home with a radio or television.

The first sign of any major concern for Angela’s health was at the beginning of presenting the Late Edition News on TV One, in May 2001, when she made a mistake with her lines by joining half of two words together. She was able to smile her trade mark gap-tooth smile and carry on, yet felt she had to slow down to say her lines correctly. The experience gave her quite a fright as it was something that didn’t usually happen to the precise presenter. She was slow and very tired when presenting the Good Morning show on the Monday afterwards, and she went to see her doctor.

Although she usually managed stress well, Angela had undergone much stress in her personal life during the 2 ½ years prior, due to her ex partner Rob Webster suing her for a share in her property. [1] She thought her symptoms were due to the stress getting to her, as did the doctor, however Angela was sent to a neurologist to rule out any other cause and an MRI showed a round ping pong ball sized primary cancerous tumour in her brain. If it hadn’t had been discovered at that time, doctors told her she would have died within 7 – 10 days.

Surgery was organised as soon as possible. In just a few days the tumour had already taken her language from her which was restored by the capable hands of neurosurgeon Andrew Law. And she underwent radiotherapy treatment.

News of her sudden illness was a shock to friends, colleagues and viewers. Angela was inundated by messages of support, and touched at how personally people cared about her, and have been inspired by her. Having cancer made her realise what she meant to people, and she was appreciative of her friends and colleagues rallying to support her. Although upset that she was no longer able to drive her precious e-type Jag, Angela was positive about her treatment, and looking forward to travelling, enjoying her beautiful home and spending time with her ‘girls’ - her poodles Marilyn and Norma Jean [2]

Sadly by December Angela’s speech was failing. She admitted herself to Auckland hospital and it was confirmed that her illness was terminal. Angela discharged herself returning home to die, and after sinking back into a coma, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning the 6th of February surrounded by her closest friends.

In her last days Angela watched a recently completed TVNZ documentary that had been made about her life with her approval, had a visit from her beloved poodles who had been staying with a friend, and she had been visited by many friends to say goodbye. Angela was part of a special circle of 8 friends several of whom gathered to visit with her on the Sunday which was a particularly special day when Angela was taken for one last drive along Tamaki Drive in her e-type Jag and given sips of champagne via a syringe by her friend Mike Brewerton. [3] [4] [1] [7]

Angela Louise Cerdan was born in London on the 26th Aug 1944 to a Spanish father and Jewish American mother. [5] [6] Her parents separated when she was a toddler and Angela spent her early years in Brazil with her mother and sister before coming to New Zealand at the age of 8, arriving with a thick accent. [8] [9] She was naturalised in 1956 when she was 12 years of age. [5]

Angela’s broadcasting career began when she was 17 and studying to be a bacteriologist at Auckland University. Angela was looking for part time work to support her through her studies and was taken on as a trainee announcer for the Broadcasting Service Commission. This was an exception to the rule of having to be aged 21 years to be an announcer due to her extraordinary talent. [9] On her very first day Angela went on air. It was also on her first day at the studios that she met Haddo D’Audney who was to become her husband. They waited until Angela was aged 21 before they married. The couple never had children and were divorced in 1976. Angela did not remarry. [3] [6]

She went on to work as a talk back radio host, a reporter and television presenter, becoming the first female news reader on the regional programme Look North in 1973. She fronted the current affairs programme Eye Witness News and presented arts programmes as well as making a controversial appearance in a TV drama The Venus Touch, in which she performed a topless scene. Angela was interested in the arts and was a member of the Auckland Theatre Trust board from 1977 to 1983. [9] She presented the weekend news for some years with Tom Bradley until they were axed at short notice in 1998. In the later years of her career Angela was a fill in for TVNZs Late Edition and the Good Morning show. [3] Angela was a pioneer, blazing the trail for other female broadcasters and presenters to forge successful careers.

Angela signed off for the very last time with a heartfelt thank you to viewers in an interview with Susan Wood on Today Live in June 2001 “Thank you so very much. And it’s been a long time since October the 12th 1962 but I’ve loved your company. Thank you for being with me, good night, bye.” – Angela D’Audney [2]

In her autobiography Angela: A Wonderful Life, which Angela co-wrote with Nicky Pellegrino she shares her story of her battle with the cancer which so cruelly took the speech from a broadcaster renowned for her almost perfect enunciation and professionalism.

Ten years after Angela’s death, her dream of improved stereotactic radiotherapy treatment being made available to cancer patients in New Zealand became a reality at Auckland Radiation Oncology, a private radiation centre at Mercy Hospital in Epsom. This was assisted by a donation of $45, 000 from a trust which was set up in her name.

This technology using 4-D Image Guidance and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy enables shorter treatment periods and greater accuracy helping patients with cancers that are otherwise difficult or impossible to treat. This was Angela’s legacy. [7] [10]

Angela had planned her funeral with much consideration, and a private full Jewish service was held at the Beth Shalom Synagogue in Epsom the day after her death, attended by her close friends. A memorial service was held the following week. [11]

Last month the cult blatantly stole a Clearwater Anon's ridiculous scientology "volunteer ministers" jacket during our protest, which had been donated a few months before by an ex-sci who had seen our earlier protests in Clearwater and realized what the cult was telling her about Anonymous didn't jive with what she saw on the protest signs. She went home, did her homework on the internet, found out the truth about the cult and soon blew from (aka- left) staff. The jacket was a gift of thanks from this ex to Clearwater Anons.

This month Anons showed up in our own "Vulture Ministers" T-shirts to mock their "Volunteer Ministers", which also had these "Anonymous Volunteer Protester" logos on the back. Special thanks to London, UK Anons for the shirts. That's the cult's Fort Harrison building in the background, the first one they bought in Clearwater back in the 70's.

I've got news for you cultists, especially Peter "Peetie" Mansell, the cult's OSA (Office of Special Affairs, their laughably named investigative arm) chief dufus in Clearwater . You pulled it in and we still run this.

July 2010 was the 30th consecutive month of peaceful global protests against the scientology cult's criminality and human rights abuses. With our brutal Florida summers now in full swing and the heat being put on scientology from multiple fronts this summer Clearwater, Florida went with Operation: The Heat is On. Recently in the Tampa Bay area the St. Petersburg times continued it's investigative expose on scientology with front page coverage detailing coerced abortions among other things. Expect more on that front shortly. Also in Tampa Bay new weekly interviews with ex-scientologists are being aired on Hillsborough Community College's Hawk Radio 1520 AM. In Australia Senator Nick Xenophon secures inquiry in to a public benefit test for charities and religion, which if adopted will specifically challenge the cult's charitable status there. In Italy the authorities raided the cult's Org in Turin for nine hours. Investigators are said to have found secret archives with files on magistrates, policemen, journalists, and relatives of former followers. And of course there's several pending lawsuits by former members against the cult for human trafficking, forced abortions, etc.

But no where is the heat being put on the scientology cult as much as Australia.

Additionally, two long time, high level cultists blew in the last couple weeks:

Marsha Pearlman Sorensen

Karen De La Carriere/Jentzsch, the former wife of apparently missing (read: RPF'ed) cult president Herber Jentzsch.

All faces of those unmasked are blurred to protect them from the cult's "Fair Game" policy of harassing it's critics. These are brave people of all ages and walks of life, standing shoulder to shoulder with ex-Scientologists to bring the truth TO YOU.

But don't take my word for it, educate yourself about what TIME Magazine called "The Cult of Greed and Power":
