Did you enjoy this project? Yes, learning together was great!
About: “Reflection” shows the contrast of the past from the present using landscape symbolism. Representing the past and present is an older Creole man, along with his reflection, rowing his boat on the Cane River. His reflection represents times gone by. The full leaves of the tree show the growth and progress made in the history of the Creole people.

Thinking Outside The Box - Or Clinging to the Lid
The Power of Psychological Artistry
Standing Out from the Crowd - Creating Your Difference
Being Different - No, Really Different
What You Get On The Workshops?
What Do People Say About The Workshops?
Register Your Place
For more information on the day, please see www.mindsways.com/SMS/ and for a brochure of what the day is about, please look at www.mindsways.com/SMS/.
Over the past 18 Months I have been running these Sleight of Mind Set Workshops throughout the country, and I am really pleased with the feedback, it has been tremendous, please don't just take my word for it, (I am after all biased) please see what people have said by going to www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/
For over twenty five years I have seen how magic can add value to delivery. There are a lot of unknown techniques out there, many of them psychological, that engages and attracts people. The Sleight of Mind Set workshop is all about how you can tap into this rich stream of ideas and "Mind Magic's" enduring popularity. The day looks at two paths running together, one learning the tricks and effects, the other why and how they add value to us.
They start at 10:00 a.m. and finish at 4:30 p.m. For more information about the workshops, please got to www.mindsways.com/SMS/
THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX - OR CLINGING TO THE LID
Many people claim that the answers to creativity, standing out from the crowd and finding solutions to problems is thinking outside the box. Although, I see many people who cling ferociously on to the lid. Psychological Artistry and Mind Magic, as well as the tools and techniques contained within them are definitely off the lid. For more, see the Sleight Of Mind Set page at www.mindsways.com/SMS/Explaining what you can achieve with these tools is wonderful. For me, I find it deeply rewarding when I see and the results that have been created using these tools and techniques. Don't just take my word for it, see What People Say About Us at www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/.
The Sleight Of Mind Set day is not just about learning the Mind Magic tricks, (these are quick to learn, but create much to be thought about) what makes it thrilling is what you can build with them for yourself. You can build pieces into your delivery, making this very personal to you. You can take these pieces and use them to ignite a powerful response in others, engaging and involving them in your ideas and what you do. Our focus is around Showing Not Telling which is about illuminating and animating your ideas and concepts. This contributes greatly to leaving people delighted, energized, interested and wanting more.
To find out more about Mind Magic and its uses, please go to www.mindsways.com/SMS/
THE POWER OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ARTISTRY
The approach we take is what we call Psychological Artistry and this involves using a blend of psychology, mind magic (or mentalism), personal development and smart thinking ideas. By tapping into people's imagination, curiosity and desire for mystery we can engage people in all different areas. By adding in psychological approaches, this is strengthened. I appreciate that by its very nature, it is not a traditional approach but that is where its power lies.
Psychological Artistry is about blending the world of art and psychology. It's about showing the beautiful flaws in our thinking and how we can use them. It's about magnifying how we all think and giving you the opportunity to change it.
A couple of interesting examples the McGurk effect and Prof Richard Wiseman's "The Incredible Colour Changing Card Effect". Please see www.mindsways.com/SMS for these and other incredible videos. I would love to know what you think. These illustrate both the power and the approach of psychological artistry.
STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD - CREATING YOUR DIFFERENCE
This learning works on a number of levels. On the workshops, we look at what Mind Magic reveals about how we think, act and behave. This allows us to understand the environment we're in.
Whilst doing this, we're also tapping into the fact that performing and illustrating illusions holds a deep fascination for people. This is what allows us to stand out from the crowd. Below are a few quotes of what people have said about the workshop:
"A truly inspiring experience is how I'd best describe the Sleight of Mind Set workshop."
"I came away with lots of ideas to create drama and interest in my training delivery."
"The whole group laughed many times and were absolutely fascinated by each technique."
BEING DIFFERENT - NO, REALLY DIFFERENT
This programme is good for anyone looking for something different and to stimulate new styles of thinking. The feedback has definitely been that it has satisfied the thirst for new ideas whilst ticking all of the edutrainment boxes. This programme is for you if you are interested in any of the following:
Human Behaviour & Psychology
Influence & Persuasion
How We Think
Magic & Magicians
New Experiences
Learning & Teaching
Framing Your Ideas
The day is all about
Exploring the art of possibility
Stimulating creativity and innovation
Transforming personal and professional life
Tapping into your imagination
On the personal development level, it is about transforming
Self esteem
Self confidence
Self awareness
Self motivation
for yourself and others. Overall it acts a catalyst for your future development.
It is intended for people who are curious, want to improve how they connect, express and communicate with others. Overall, it is about adding new skills to you and being able to apply the techniques and ideas from Psychological Artistry and Mind Magic to maximise what you do.
MindSways sessions are based on a unique blend of magic, science, psychological artistry, design and smart thinking. All of this allows you to work with individuals, groups and organisations in an original and dynamic way. It also means that by being trained in these psychological subtleties and powerful techniques, you can add a unique twist to your activities.
Our success in life depends critically on two things; our capacity for insight into our own mental world and that of other people. One of the benefits of learning and applying Mind Magic and psychological artistry is that it puts our thinking habits and styles back on our radar. This is only one aspect of the many benefits that people find when they have worked with us over the past few months. For what others have said please take a look at www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/

"Fantastic day... a great eye opener!"
"Thanks to you both for a challenging, stimulating and enjoyable day"
"I've had plenty of thoughts about how some of the approaches used might be incorporated into several areas of my work"
"A great course, with plenty to think about and over"

The events have been attended and proved to be relevant to people from a wide range of backgrounds including entrepreneurs, business consultants, health professionals, coaches of life, performance and sports, therapists, hypnotherapists, trainers etc.
This is an unorthodox approach to understanding human behaviour, illustrating and promoting our messages, and this is where the real power lies. As Marty Neumeier says in ZAG " Be Different - No, Really Different". For more on what people say, please see www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/and for more on the workshops themselves, please go to www.mindsways.com/SMS/

The Daily Create for September 17th tdc618 prompts us to "create a Face Swap image of yourself swapped with Talky Tina’s face!"
Since John Johnston had done such a masterful face swap already with iamTalkyTina, I decided that I would riff on his image and swap my face with his. So my face winds up on Tina, Tina's face winds up on John, and John's face winds up on me.
If anyone is interested in joining us, I've extended the wall and carpeting to (now) John's right so that there is room for you to crowd in.
It's also nice to see three different ds106 shirts represented -- the ds106radio shirt (which I am now wearing), the @GiuliaForsythe Kickstarter campaign shirt (which Tina is now wearing) and the ds106zone shirt from summer2013 (which John is now wearing).

I think I feel the benefit of all those thumbnails before committing to the final sketch! Even though I am still desiring to be much quicker in order to really be able to sketch and go, I felt much more confident in all my angles and perspectives because of doing the thumbnails before hand.
We’re creating a Haunted House with lower-school students in our Maker Art class at the Lycée Français this fall.
In this after-school workshop, students are building a fantasy world together, with magical creatures, ghosts, witches and other animated characters inspired by Halloween.
We are combining arts and technology to bring their creations to life: each student will have their own room in our haunted house, and they will learn to build simple robots with motors and Arduino, then play with lights and sounds to tell their stories for our ‘show and tell’.
For our sixth class, we invited students to design special attractions for their Haunted House in small teams: a graveyard, a spooky elevator and an old clock tower. Children also put the finishing touches on their individual ‘wonderbox’ rooms.
My associate Sarah Brewer and I are teaching this class to students in grades 4 and 5 at the Lycée Français in Sausalito, every Thursday at 3:30pm, from September 15 to December 15, 2016.

Create a expansive cityscape, featuring a blend of historical and steampunk architecture, astrolabes, and large, decorative structures to add a sense of wonder and technological advancement. Include an elevated perspective overlooking the city. Buildings with tall, prominent structures such as towers, domes, and spires, exhibiting ornate and intricate designs. Advanced or fantastical technology integrated into the cityscape, such as airships or flying vessels in the sky, and mechanical structures on rooftops. The skyline consists of a blue sky and bright white clouds. @ferleon
Stills from film. While being in Petra, Jordan I began to have images of this woman in the landscape. While living with Bedouins there, I began to notice the power of the universality of humanity. I began to see how the cultural differences between humans are beautiful paint strokes on the blank canvases that we all are, all of us humans. And realized how the function of the gender roles in society are constantly evolving and shifting, in a great span of time. It also speaks of the influence the landscape has on the identity of an individual, a group of people, a culture and a society. Jordan 2012
