Remodel, Week 29

Zoomed out a bit more for this one, so as to capture both the fresh island and the still-intact front part of the remodel wall in the same shot. Definitely a unique view, and I was pretty happy with how this shot turned out!

Unfortunately, that's about all the happy I can include in this description. Satisfied by my coverage of the fresh island, after taking this photo I walked away. As I was doing so, I discovered a guy nearby kinda looking at me funny. He must have seen me taking the picture and wondered what the heck I was doing. I next found myself by the old rotisserie chicken case, which I also grabbed a pic of (you saw that one yesterday). However, I realized that the guy had not moved, and was still staring at me, obviously not dropping the matter like most curious people would (a few people have even kindly moved out of the way before when they realized I was taking a photo!). In fact, the guy actually proceeded to grab a Sam's Club employee and point at me before coming my way. I headed into the produce walk-in cooler – where my mom was busy shopping – and emailed the photos I had just taken to myself, in case I was forced to delete them. As we left the cooler, those two walked in, but thankfully didn't say anything even though we passed each other. To be safe, I didn't take any more pictures on this visit.

The guy was not wearing a blue vest, so I was under the impression the whole time that he was simply a regular customer. I will admit that there is a chance that he was a construction worker, in which case I can understand the situation better. But the fact that he had to grab an employee to confront me instead of confronting me himself doesn't give me much confidence that that's the correct scenario, nor does the fact that the employee didn't say anything to me – if he had wanted to/really cared, he definitely could have, but he let us go without even saying a word.

So... I'm still operating under the assumption that the dude was just a regular shopper. And that does NOT sit well with me. So I took a picture. Big deal. It is absolutely none of your business what I'm doing, and definitely none of your business to “tell on me” to an employee. And that brings up another question – why are you so concerned in the first place? It's not like I was photographing any shoppers such as yourself. In fact, I only see one human being in this entire photo, way off in the distance by the refrigerated foods sign: clearly not the subject of the image. Crew members having a problem with my actions, I can understand, as well as respect. I'll comply with what they tell me to do. Regular Joe Blows, on the other hand... nope. Do not appreciate attitude coming from you. That makes me really angry.

Rant over.

A walk around the corner reveals the deli on the left and produce on the right. Looking at this sign has me thinking that the font used is the same as, or at least very similar to, the font the neon signs were made out of.

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)

Taken last summer and only just processed! This little jumping spider was hiding in a potted plant in the garden. I took the spider and the plant into the kitchen to make use of the great natural light which filters through the kitchen blinds. I also used my Canon Speedlite 580 EX II diffused with paper towel for fill. Taken with my Canon EOS 1D MK3 and Sigma 150 macro and extension tubes. In Aperture3 I did a basic adjustment to the exposure and cloned out dust. In Photoshop I did adjustments with levels and vibrancy and a little dodging around the eyes to separate them. I enhanced the greens with the foliage filter in Nik color Efex pro 3. Then with Nik sharpener I painted a little sharpener around the spiders eyes and head to give a little extra crispy pop :-))

The dandelion seeds you see on the image were on the plant (as they were all over the garden). I thought it would look visually appealing to include them so I arranged them for composition. As always when shooting living creatures have respect for the subject and be aware that when working in macro with such a shallow dof, a good measure of patience should be included in your shoot.
