Another image that I felt was better in black and white. This is a handheld shot from Bamford Edge while these incredible localised heavy showers moved across the landscape followed by bright light giving a dramatic contrast in tones.

I didn't have an opportunity to take a new photo today. So... here are two photos from yesterday!

Well, I will never end up like him.

Lake Audy (50.7552, -100.2481), located in Southern Division, Manitoba, Canada spans 477.7 hectares (approximately 1180 acres or 4.8 square kilometers).
Riding Mountain National Park is a national park in Manitoba, Canada. The park is located within Treaty 2 Territory and sits atop the Manitoba Escarpment. Consisting of a protected area of 2,969 km2 (1,146 sq mi), the forested parkland stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding prairie farmland. It was designated a national park because it protects three different ecosystems that converge in the area; grasslands, upland boreal and eastern deciduous forests. It is most easily reached by Highway 10 which passes through the park. The south entrance is at the townsite of Wasagaming, which is the only commercial centre within the park boundaries
The photo captures the intricate details of the petals. And gives a soft look to the shot. The velvety texture and the delicate lines on the falls are so clear. The way the light catches the bright yellow and contrasts with the deeper, almost smoky hues of the upper petals creates a dramatic effect. The blurred background keeps all the focus squarely on the elegant form and captivating colours of the iris. It's a truly eye-catching image that highlights the unique beauty of this particular variety.
Active Assignment Weekly: It's all in the details
I didn't like the first photo I submitted this week and thought I'd challenge myself more. Saw this red window pane of an office, grabbed some thistle, and laid it on top of the pane. Added vignette in pp and fixed tone.

Glimpsed from the raised footway between the Crowngate Shopping Centre and The Hive student, community and library venue, a London Midland service rattles across the viaduct towards the centre of Worcester.
The tired looking brick building sits almost uncomfortably between the shopping centre and the shiny new Hive. Capturing the contrasting fortunes of the two buildings seemed an opportunity not to be passed by. Saturday 12.3.16

This image makes me think of the Billy Joel Song, "Piano Man":
"He says, 'Son, can you play me a memory? / I'm not really sure how it goes / But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete / When I wore a younger man's clothes'"..
A really fun capture of the Tucson sunset Wednesday evening - all I did was tweak the contrast slightly and the image went vivid like a painting by Maxfield Parrish. These were the colors but they do stand out better than straight from camera.
