A 1965 advert showing the use of reinforced concrete in the construction of council or social housing at a time when several "system building methods" using such components was very much in vogue. The demand for housing, and the desire to satisfy it, in post-WW2 decades in an effort to clear slum housing and deal with damaged housing stock saw many local authorities look to construction methodologies and building types that gave the promise of quicker and cheaper construction. Sadly many such buildings have not stood the test of time although many still do survive as useful housing stock.
I can find little about Frazzo Ltd - they claim over 50 years of experience in the business which makes them a pre-WW1 company and I wonder if they were responsible for the Frazzi floor, a system that used steel filler joists set in cast coke-breeze concrete and capped with earthenware 'pots' that was a popular Edwardian construction detail. The buildings shown here are typical of many low rise, maisonette blocks built by councils. The upper image is of a block in Walthamstow built by the council's own Direct Labour force under the direction of Borough Architect F G Southgate FRIBA whilst the lower image shows one of the many blocks constructed by the London County Council (soon to become the GLA) here in Woolwich. This block was by architects Stewart & Penn FRIBA and built for the Council by Kirk & Kirk.

The Scottish Municipal Annual was issued 'under the patronage' of various Scottish local government associations and institutions and it was aimed to increase knowledge as to the 'special features, civic and industrial, of the ancient Burghs and Counties of Scotland'. It lists many councils, government agencies and other institutions and carries numerous advertisements for companies associated with municipal 'requirements' such as building materials, professional services, manufacturers and suppliers.
In this, the 1951 edition, an advert for James Miller & Partners Ltd, building and civil engineering contractors illustrates "The Miller Home". Miller's had been formed in 1934 as an Edinburgh based house builder by Sir James Miller. In post-war years the company concentrated on the lucrative local authority building market before, in the late 1950s, returning to constructing private homes as controls were relaxed. The linear descendent, Miller Homes, is still trading based in Edinburgh.

From the catalogue issued to accompany the 1959 exhibtion on the UK's fifteen designated New Towns this advert for Leslie & Co, who appear to have had quite a geographic spread, takes the form of using the contemporary design of road signs to "point the way'. They appear to have been involved in construction projects at four of the New Towns - Hemel Hempstead, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City and Basildon.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
All surfaces must be cleaned and free of dust and grease. When applying to a polished or glossy surface it is advised to scrub the surface with sandpaper before gluing. Remove cap and attach the special threaded mixing nozzle. Use mixing gun M200XMR and squeeze out about 6" of product before applying to surface. Clean the nozzle after use, replace the cap and discard the mixing nozzle.
SHELF LIFE:
The product in the cartridge will last at least 6 months if stored between 65° and 77°. Keep away from sunlight, heat and humidity.
