DEEP and Kickstarts

I thought I'd try a little compilation artwork! I'm getting a little burned out with birds. This is two photos I took back in 2007 with a little Topaz added.

Brandon from 1 to 2 months old. He was born mid-Oct 2013, 4 weeks early.

First time trying some self portraits. It's fun working with setting up lighting etc. I wish I had better equipment though. Oh well, limitation causes creativity I always say.

The seven deadly Flickr sins!

You know I'm sure I sat there throughout this shoot, and said significantly less than I normally do. I'm sure she has half peaceful, half bored. I was mesmerised. So at ease with herself, so natural, no expressions of lies, no poses, just pure and unadulterated 'her' for better or for worse, it really didn't matter. I think looking back after taking these photos, if I manage to instill as big a sense of honesty about the photographs I take from now on, as Caitlin showed me when we shot together, I'll be a happy boy.

I sat, mesmerised. And man, that hair! *sigh* :-)

While iTunes' cover art printing is all nice and pretty there's nothing like making your own CD covers with a bit of glue and some magazine snippets. Particularly if you're giving the CD to a friend.

Another year passed by. Personally I had a very busy year. In April I became father for the second time and in July I changed job. Still I found some time for taking photos as the small compilation above will show you.

Thank you for all your kind comments, retweets, likes and favs. They keep me going.

So stand in the rain

Stand your ground

Stand up when it's all crashing down

You stand through the pain

You won't drown

And one day, whats lost can be found

You stand in the rain

Weekend #4 compilation is a little late. But of course the weekend we choose this quote there was no rain.

Happy New Year!!!

This is Amanda making her way through my stream of our consciousness one night.

Her dad is Anthony Flores who is one of the best slam poets I have ever heard live.

Amanda is a chip off the old proverbial block.

I have a weakness for slam poetry. I think it is far braver to stand in front of a drunk audience and recite your guts out than to simply jot them out on paper and hide behind the invisibility and distance the ink affords you.

I was at a backyard party once.

It was hot and tremendously humid and I didn't know it at the time, but I got to witness the making of a poem.

Anthony, el chivo, was writing down notes on a piece of paper as people passed him by to grab another beer from the cooler.

Then it was Anthony's time to take the mike.

And I don't know if it was the beers, or perspiration trickling down the sides of my face, or the mosquitoes dancing in my ear, but Anthony came on and blew my mind into tiny specks of paper.

Here's what he composed that night as I licked the nacho cheese off my index finger.
