PERFORMANCE ART AUCTION
AUCTION ACHTUNG! is a brokering service event for live artists to sell their work on an open and global market and to a culturally adept audience at MPA-B. Two British artists, Adam Young & Sara Zaltash, create the auction in an effort to bring focus to the issues faced by artists more concerned with the production of ephemeral art than the residual artifacts that are left behind. More than simple intellectual property or commodity, the live artist is able to offer art that must be encountered and experienced at the moment of its production. What value does this hold? What are the rights of an artist? What are they worth? Who is protecting their value?
In AUCTION ACHTUNG, artists are asked to draw up their own contracts and terms of sale for their work. AUCTION ACHTUNG! includes an open worldwide call for artists wanting to sell their live work at auction. It is the first of a series of annual events set out to give artists the power to call the shots on how and to who their live art is sold.
