Looking up into the envelope as the blast valve is opened a couple times to add some loft...and we have lift-off!!
A shot of a route 122 bridge, over the Souhegan river, shortly before our landing in the golf course.
I don't know if this qualifies as formation flying but these pilots have to keep their heads in the game on this run. It would not be good advertisement to run into the banner in front of you.

At Harold H Wilkins School, Amherst, NH. Holding the skirt open and heating up the envelope, in order to get her to eventually stand up. About to take my first hot-air balloon flight on 'Amazing Grace', piloted by FAA certified commercial pilot, Honi Glover. She's very tiny, so you can't see her. But she is controlling the blast valve just beyond the basket.
Eric Nickerson, of 'Liberty Flights' ballooning, took off from the school as well. This is a shot of his balloon a few moments after our take off.
Seconds after taking off from the school. You can see lots of foot-tracks in the wet grass from us (the ground crew) examining the field for debris, sharp objects, etc before unfurling the balloon's envelope, for inflation.
Trying to find a landing spot while the chase vehicle awaits our touch-down. Amherst Country Club got some unexpected visitors this morning. The golf course superintendent, Steven Wilson, was not as impressed as some of the golfers were. I love making uptight people even more uptight!
Eric Nickerson's balloon is not too far behind us. He did a couple touch-downs after his take-off, which is part of the pilot's license retention requirements. Pilots are required to land a certain number of times during a number of flight hours, so sometimes they will do quick landings and take-offs to meet those requirements.
