Another day, another secret of the universe discovered in my morning coffee.

I've been wanting to tackle this project for a while now. When Scott moved in, he brought with a collection of origami butterflies ripe for displaying.

Sadly though, it wasn't meant to be. We would have needed a few hundred butterflies more to actually bring the vision to life.

So back to the drawing board for how to showcase the butterflies. I'll figure it out someday, or Scott will recycle them... whichever comes first.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Happy Halloween! Today was a very busy day both at work in the morning and preparing for Halloween Dinner in the afternoon… coffee was definitely my friend today.

We don't have many children in this mountain community, so trick or treating does not really happen up here... instead we cooked dinner for my parents and had a great evening together. On the menu: Pumpkin ravioli (10/10 recipe!!) and a caramel apple cheesecake (9.5/10).

Hope everyone had a very safe and fun Halloween!

This photo might seem off to you. I am left handed so I placed the handle to the left side and oriented the photo for my eye. Let me know if it "feels funny" to you. Polka dot is "mia" in the lower right side.

Tracey Clark's Picture Fall Day 8: Keeping it Simple

Tracey provided "keeping it simple" as our prompt instructing us to study light by finding a single appealing object and using ambient light to illuminate it from different angles. This mug is so photogenic in it's purity of creamy white and generous shape. I used sunlight behind and off to the side to highlight it's shape and color, adding the leaves because...well, I just couldn't resist.

After a round of golf in the freezing cold wind, this morning it was great to get back home to warm up! After lunch, I made myself a nice warm mug of coffee and thought, "why not" I'll read a couple of chapters of my book!

Of all my grandparents coffee mugs, this one is my favorite. I always reach for it when I'm looking for a mug!

"Forget those other, less attentive, coffee-of-the-month connoisseur clubs! Coffee Brewers Direct will send you a freshly brewed cup of exotic coffee each and every weekday through the US postal service."

My little friend called me for one more coffee :)

An artist I thought about each time I used my mug ... and the creator of some of the most delightful watercolours! A Scottish treasure that we lost this week.

Dame Elizabeth Violet Blackadder, Mrs Houston, DBE, RA, RSA was a Scottish painter and printmaker. She was the first woman to be elected to both the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Academy. In 1962 she began teaching at Edinburgh College of Art where she continued until her retirement in 1986.

Wikipedia

Dame Elizabeth Blackadder is perhaps best known for her detailed yet lyrical watercolours of flowers, 'table-top' compositions using Oriental objects and her beloved cats. Trips to Japan and Venice and a greater emphasis on oil can be seen in landscape and townscape pieces as well as important still life series using decorated tins and boxes arranged with exotic fish, fruit and vegetables.

Be a dear. A John Deere coffee mug of mine

I was down to one coffee mug, which equals a real fika crisis. Because of the pandemic, I don't visit my favorite cafe so I drink a lot of my coffee at home. And I am very good at breaking coffee mugs. All I have to do is look at them and they will break. Anywho, I now have twelve new coffee mugs to break, including this one.

Whew.. only 3 candles to blow out... could have been worse and have all 48 to blow out... Thanks Mother!!!! This is a Chocolate cake with pastachio frosting... YUM !!!!

Back home and after a breezy walk along the beach it was time for a hot coffee and a blueberry muffin!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

A modest cartoon edit on two of our favourite coffee mugs featuring two of our favourite cartoon characters.

We brought them up from the pantry today as we prepared for this very special day!
