Summer is fog season here in the San Francisco area. Odd as it seems, it's colder, damper and more overcast during the summer months than it is the rest of the year. But there are a few spots that are elevated enough to get you above the fog, where it's sunnier, warmer and not-overcast. My favorite place to get above the fog these past few years has been Mount Tamalpais (a.k.a. Mt Tam), in Marin County, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. In fact, my friend and fellow fogaholic Larry Nienkark and I have been up on Mt Tam more often than we care to admit. But let's just say that in August we've only missed going up the mountain 1 or 2 days each. Yes, it's an obsession, but a healthy one, I think. The trips have been very rewarding socially (I've met many other fog addicts), physically (lots of hiking) and photographically (I now have an even more enormous catalog of fog photos). All in all it's been a most excellent and productive season.

I'm a very slow publisher, so you'll be seeing my fog photos for several months...well beyond the end of fog season. I hope you enjoy them. In the meantime, if you want to follow along on my foggy adventures, feel free to find me on Instagram, where I've been using the "Stories" feature to post live photos and video from the locations where I've been shooting. The photos and videos in the Stories section only last 24 hours (like Snapchat, if you're familiar with that), but it's a fun way to see the more "real life" side of the folks you follow. If you're on Instagram, you can find me here.

Happy Sunday/Monday, friends! I'm off to shoot more fog tonight....

-Lorenzo

Siehst du mich

Hörst du mich

Was hab ich dir getan

Warum zerstörst du mich

Fühlst du mich

Spürst du mich

Wenn du mich nicht mehr liebst

warum berührst du mich

Brauchst du mich

Sag glaubst du nicht

Dass es besser ist

du lebst dein leben ohne mich

Erkennst du mich

Verstehst du nicht

Warum bist du überhaupt noch hier

Was willst du noch von mir

Augen auf

Wer sieht versteht

wie gnadenlos die Zeit vergeht

wie sich der Zeiger dreht

unentwegt

Er steht nie still

Du weißt nicht was du willst

Du weißt nicht wo du stehst

weißt nicht woher du kommst

wohin du gehst

Du weißt nicht was dich treibt

was am Ende für dich bleibt

Warum bist du so blass

so kalt so herzlos

Du weißt nicht was du tust

weißt nicht woran du glaubst

Sag mir wozu und ob

du mich noch brauchst

Wenn's einfach nicht mehr passt

Wenn du mich wirklich nur noch hasst

Warum bist du noch hier

Wofür

Was willst du noch von mir

Was willst du noch

Wer sieht versteht

wie gnadenlos die Zeit vergeht

wie sich der Zeiger dreht

unentwegt

Er steht nie still

Viel zu lange

Viel zu spät

Sturm geerntet

Wind gesät

die Zeit vergeht

unentwegt

Sie steht nie still

I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures from my first trip to the Roan Highlands (taken in late January). All I've got to say is that the Roan Highlands are impressive, even in the bland months of winter! Throw some pink in those rhododendrons, and some green on the trees, and it's no surprise that this becomes a world-class photographic destination! For those who aren't familiar, the Appalachian Trail crosses the summits of the Roan Highlands, taking a generally west-east route. I followed the AT about 1.5 miles to this location on Jane Bald, arriving an hour before sunrise.

This picture is yet another lesson in why you shouldn't pack up early. I knew that a winter storm was coming, so I was hoping that the sunrise would show for at least a little. When sunrise actually came, the first band of clouds obscured the light, and the sunrise seemed to be a bust. I was about to pack up my gear, but decided to wait just a few minutes later (it was 20 - 30 min. after sunrise by this point). I was opening my backpack to pack my stuff up when the sun finally broke through, showering the slopes of Round Bald with golden morning light. Also, at this moment, the first bands of the storm really started coming over the top of Roan Mountain. I would have missed it all if I left when I originally wanted to!

Even though this is probably the single most cliche shot form the Roan Highlands, I'm still very pleased with the picture and my trip. Regarding the picture, I really like the mix of warm and cool colors. with a gradual transition between the two. As far as the trip goes, I'm glad to have scouted out this area for a trip in June!

Listen Amarantine Enya

You know when you give your love away

It opens your heart,

Everything is new.

And you know time will always find a way

To let your heart believe it's true.

You know love is everything you say;

A whisper, a word,

Promises you give.

You feel it in the heartbeat of the day.

You know this is the way love is.

[Chorus:]

Amarantine...

Amarantine...

Amarantine...

Love is.

Love is.

Love...

You know love may sometimes make you cry,

So let the tears go,

They will flow away,

For you know love will always let you fly

...How far a heart can fly away!

[Chorus]

You know when love's shining in your eyes

It may be the stars

Fallen from above.

And you know love is with you when you rise,

For night and day belong to love.

Amarantine is an album by Irish musician Enya. The album was released on November 22, 2005. It won the Grammy Award for Best New Age Album for 2007. The release date was announced by Roma Ryan on September 23, 2005 at the official Enya forum.[1] It was subsequently leaked to the Internet on November 11, 2005.

Two songs from the album were released as singles: the title track "Amarantine" and "It's in the Rain." "Someone Said Goodbye" was released as a promotional single in the United States as well.

Mike, Andy, and I were live streaming on TVN when we pulled over to shoot this in southern Texas. Mike and I made a quick split for the middle of the road to get this shot, and I guess it worried a few of the viewers to see that we are in their view reckless (as Andy told us). We weren't however... I only had to flatten myself out for one semi rig that ran over me (not really). It was day of the blue core storms. Each one progressively bluer than the previous. What a day for shelf cloud structure!

The church plan is that of a Latin cross with five aisles. The central nave vaults reach 45 meters while the side nave vaults reach 30 meters. The transept has 3 aisles. The columns are on a 7.5 meter grid however the columns of the apse, resting on del Villar's foundation, do not adhere to the grid, requiring a section of columns of the ambulatory to transition to the grid thus creating a horseshoe pattern to the layout of those columns. The crossing rests on the four central columns of porphyry supporting a great hyperboloid surrounded by two rings of 12 hyperboloids (currently under construction). The central vault reaches 60 meters. The apse will be capped by a hyperboloid vault reaching 75 meters. Gaudi intended that a visitor standing at the main entrance be able to see the vaults of the nave, crossing, and apse, thus the graduated increase in vault loftiness.

The columns of the interior are a unique Gaudi design. Besides branching to support their load, their ever-changing surfaces are the result of the intersection of various geometric forms. The simplest example is that of a square base evolving into an octagon as the column rises, then a 16-sided form, and eventually to a circle. This effect is the result of a three-dimensional intersection of helicoidal columns (for example a square cross-section column twisting clockwise and a similar one twisting counter-clockwise).

ENG The portal of Santa María La Real de Sangüesa (Navarra, Spain) is one of the most outstanding works of Spanish Romanesque art. Sculpted at the end of the 12th century. The statues-columns that support the three archivolts are one of the most beautiful elements of the portal, those on the left represent the Three Marys who symbolize the resurrection and those on the right Saint Peter, Saint Paul and Judas. The lower part of the cover is the work of the master Leodegarius.
