The Department of Civil Engineering offers B .Tech. in Civil Engineering with current sanctioned intake of 180.
The Civil Engineering Department at Vivekananda Institute of Technology was established in the year 2008. The department is flourishing since then, with a Vision to achieve excellence in education by keeping pace with rapidly changing technologies and thereby, bridging the gap between academics and field practice in the area of civil engineering. Experienced faculty from field and academics forms the thrust of the department. Practical knowledge in students is being enhanced through well-equipped laboratories in various subjects such as Concrete Technology, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Road & Building Materials Testing, Surveying, Hydraulics, etc. The theoretical knowledge of students is further supplemented by arranging industrial visits and invited lectures by experts from industry and academia. In addition, the department also participates towards fulfillment of social responsibilities by providing consultancy services in the area of testing and design such as, structural design, topographical survey, concrete mix designs, water supply & waste management works, road intersection designs and many more.

Bits of the former Interstate 35 W bridge over the Mississippi backdrop a short section of the bike path into downtown Minneapolis. Especially moving in the early morning light on a brisk November Saturday.
