Dryburgh Abbey, near Dryburgh on the banks of the River Tweed in the Scottish Borders, was nominally founded on 10 November (Martinmas) 1150 in an agreement between Hugh de Morville, Lord of Lauderdale and Constable of Scotland, and the Premonstratensian canons regular from Alnwick Abbey in Northumberland.[1] The arrival of the canons along with their first abbot, Roger, took place on 13 December 1152.[2]
It was burned by English troops in 1322, after which it was restored only to be again burned by Richard II in 1385, but it flourished in the fifteenth century. It was finally destroyed in 1544, briefly to survive until the Scottish Reformation, when it was given to the Earl of Mar by James VI of Scotland.
The 12th Earl of Buchan bought the land in 1786. Sir Walter Scott and Douglas Haig are buried in its grounds.
Another old one. I remember that I never really liked any of the photos from that particular roll but, being away from home for almost four months, I could care less now; this just brings back memories.
Freshwater ferry boat is moored at Circular Quay Sydney, with the 1960s AMP Tower and newer 2022 Quay Quarter Tower in the background with its cantilever structure.
Interestingly, the Quay Quarter Tower was recycled from the old 1970s AMP Centre through a transformative redesign and adaptive reuse process. The original structure was stripped back to its concrete core, retaining key elements such as the foundation and structural framework, while the outdated facades were replaced with a new, modern design. This approach minimized demolition waste and embodied a sustainable, forward-thinking strategy, blending the old with the new to create a dynamic, energy-efficient skyscraper that enhances both the building’s functionality and its connection to the surrounding environment.
"Monty" is a Royal (ball) python (Python regius). He was at least 4 - 5 years old in 1987 when I began caring for him making him now at least 33 years old. Most likely he was taken from the wild in his native west Africa. The longevity record for a Royal python is over 47 years. Photo by Frank.

This futuristic and functional sculpture is made from acrylic sheets fashioned into a chair. It is illuminated by night with low energy, colour changing LED lights to bring its playfulness to light.
