Last image from the clear nights of early January.

37 x 4-minute ISO 3200 exposures at f/7.1, taken over 2 nights. Astro-modified Canon 600D and Canon 70-300mm lens at 300mm piggybacked on a Celestron C8 telescope for auto-guiding.

Frames stacked in Deep Sky Stacker software. Result post-processed to increase contrast, reduce noise and colour gradients caused by light pollution and to reduce the stars (which otherwise dominate after stretching the contrast).

Composite of 5 stacked images (10 photos each) taken with an iPhone 11 Pro through a Celestron NexStar 8SE telescope.

Captured 12x2 minute sub exposures through a Baader Luminance filter on my 11" Celestron Edge with Hyperstar. I added this to RGB data from last year, also with the Hyperstar, 15- 1 minute exposures through each filter. All exposures taken with the QHY23M.

After spending some time on M5 I thought it would be fun to try some widefield Milkyway shots. I had to rebalance and go through the alignment procedure for my scope. I switched the 500mm for a more modest 35mm f/1.4 lens. I decided to shoot it at f/2.8 so it wasn't just wide open and trust my mount that had been polar aligned with SharpCap to do it's thing. I wanted a bright star to help define the area of the sky, so I chose Altair which can be seen in the middle right of this frame and let the gear do it's thing. Images stacked in DeepSkyStacker and processed in Photoshop.

In addition to capturing regular RGB data using the colour camera and the UV-IR Cut filter I also captured video using the ZWO 850nm IR Pass filter.

I hadn't bothered with the data until today, and almost threw it into recycle bin, glad I didn't now.

The top 3 images are 3 stages of the IR850 capture:

. the IR stacked image (from Autostakkert 3.0)

.. then with Registax wavelets applied

... after being processed in photoshop.

The lower 3 images:

. the RGB stacked image,

.. then with Registax wavelets applied

... and the 3rd is a composit LRGB or (IR-RGB) image using the top right image (as the luminace channel) and the lower middle image for the RGB
