if you think you can climb a tree to get away from a bear, think again. This bear was 6meters (20 feet) up the tree, and later took a nap up there. A ranger told us that this bear, was spending it's first year away from its mother. It was in the tree to wait until the other, larger bears were done fishing for salmon at the falls.

We visited Anan Bay on 7 August 2007, it is a great spot although fairly difficult to get to. We saw brown bears early in the morning and then American Black Bear, all catching salmon, which are coming up the creek to spawn.

“When she woke up late in the morning light

And the day had just begun

She opened up her eyes and thought

Oh, what a morning

It's not a day for work

It's a day for catching tan

Just lying on the beach and having fun

She's going to get you.”

These kids are catching a ride sat on the back of a truck. Unfortunately the camera focused on something else, but thought I'd include the street scene anyway.

Our bus to Argentina was stuck due to the road flooding. Paul, Aaron and I ditched the bus and hitched a ride back into the town of Uyuni. There was no room for Paul in the truck so he rode on the outside. It was pretty cold.
