"The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them."

There's something quite magical that happens to my garden after the rain. I believe the plants are smiling as they are coated with tiny drops of water.
While on my way north I couldn’t resist not grabbing some shots with the fresh snow on the trees. One spot I’ve had in mind for a while was an over pass just south of the North Billerica depot. With Keolis outbound train #311 nearing it was a good option. I noticed it was late but I still headed out to set up and to my surprise a geometry extra was making its way with recently rebuilt F40 leading the way as they split the automatics. Attempting to capture the ever changing colors of bubble solution was a race against time. Fortunately the sun and soapy liquid made my day!

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM SEVILLE TO ALL MY FLICKR FRIENDS
There was a very large patch of Jack-O-Lantern mushrooms off the pathway alongside our house. I had to wait for midday when the sun was high in the sky and hit the narrow opening between the house and the tall trees. Got it!
Catching Dragonflies at Kardon Park in Chester County.
I am posting three photographs today, because of the story.
Today I went to the local pond to try and capture dragonflies in flight. I was very pleased to find a few species, including Halloween Pennants, mating and laying eggs. I was so intent in getting the mating Pennants in frame and in focus, that I did not notice the Green Heron until it grabbed the subject I was trying to photograph. I was both startled and surprised as I have never seen herons actively hunting dragonflies
I watch this heron for maybe 15 minutes longer, hunting from a fallen branch. During this time I saw it catch three more dragonflies as seen in the photographs. This heron did not seem concerned about my presence and obviously was an expert in using this branch to catch dragonflies.

Caught the first train out to Edale. Only saw 5 people for the first 3 hours. Fabulous conditions to be out in.
I can also thoroughly recommend The Penny Pot Cafe for cake and coffee.

This hummingbird is approaching what we call the "basement," one of the many branches they enjoy perching on.
The thing about feelings is that we have the ability to pull ourselves from the low low's. Even when we tell ourselves we can't, just think of the fact that we own our emotions and feelings. And by that power we can nib the tidal currents pulling on us.
Tonight the Mayor ended the curfew one day earlier than planned, and the parking lot at Little Bay Park was packed. While some people were wearing masks, there was very little evidence of social distancing. There was even a small wedding party. The sunset was actually at 8:25, nearly 10 minutes after this photo, but the sun had dipped behind the cement support of the bridge. This is the Throgs Neck Bridge, one of several bridges that link Queens to the Bronx, and the stone jetty is part of Little Bay Park, a NYC park right outside of Fort Totten. It's a popular place for people to gather and watch the sunset. One photo a day. (159/366) Bayside, Queens, NYC -- June 7, 2020

As the light continued to get more dramatic, the shadows also began to move in. Like a scene from a thriller movie, they appeared to surround the distant silhouette. It was a thrilling moment for me as well, as I searched for the right position. The one that would best take advantage of the setting.
A pinkish streak of light shot through the sky, as day was quickly becoming night. The shadows continued their inexorable march, while just the right spot anchored my tripod, and the shot was made.
