Bufflehead male
A buoyant, large-headed duck that abruptly vanishes and resurfaces as it feeds, the tiny Bufflehead spends winters bobbing in bays, estuaries, reservoirs, and lakes. Males are striking black-and white from a distance. A closer look at the head shows glossy green and purple setting off the striking white patch. Females are a subdued gray-brown with a neat white patch on the cheek. Bufflehead nest in old woodpecker holes, particularly those made by Northern Flickers, in the forests of northern North America.
humpback whale...clearly, my lens was a bit too long to get the whole breach in the frame.
still, cool to see.

We took a trip up to Napa over the weekend for wine tasting and to grab a few shots. It was a little breezy, but it made for interesting changes in the landscape as the patchy clouds moved across the sky.

From the Big Trip 3D slide archives 2004.
I was going to wait for the camel train slowly making its way down Cable Beach in Broome in Western Australia for the ever popular camel train silhouette shot, but decided instead to go for this guy who had appeared from my angle to have hooked the sun on the end of the line. For the time we were in Broome, the sunsets were just wonderful every night.
I encountered the apparent horizon distortion on several sunset shots no matter where the horizon was placed in the frame. I am unsure if it is something to do with the film itself distorting through the camera being aimed at the sun, but it was definitely not the lens. I don't have software for correcting such things, but I still like the result.

Catching Stars at Lake Rotoiti last night :)
I didn't plan on shooting any Astro on this trip so had to use my EF-S 10-22mm on my 6D to capture a wide enough field of view (17mm here). Such beautiful skies in this area, really looking forward to moving down in the next 2 weeks!

I tried to take a picture of the striped lady approaching.
However, while trying to catch the Vespa that suddenly entered the frame,
My hands shook.
This is what always happens when you try to kill two birds with one stone.
Hope your all having a relaxing Saturday.

Strong sunlight silhouettes the tree and its branches laced with web. This worked so much better in black and white for me. Brings out the drama!
... taken at Vltava river bank, Prague, Czech republic. This fisherman was floating with the boat really near the bank. I took the photo in secret, so that is why there is the smudge in the lower-left corner. it is the railing, preventing me from falling into the river :-)
A male house sparrow from back in May capturing damselflies. Havent had much chance to get damsel and dragon pictures this year I have had a few days on it but no were near as much as previous years. quite a high iso image so excuse the grain.
Have a great weekend everyone :) I'm working all of it :( but hoping to get out to get some red deer pictures next week :)
