First light at Dún Laioghaire coincided with me waking up, so I decided to get a quick snap and then return to bed. I used a pocket tripod rested on top of a sash window to support my phone for the 1/6 of a second exposure. It took several attempts to coincide my exposure with the light on the lighthouse at the end of the pier flashing. For whatever reason it seemed important at the time!

I was able to sneak up on these two turtles at Frear Park in Troy, New York, USA on May 21, 2018, without scaring them off. It was a beautiful day for sunbathing! Can anyone help with ID? Might these be Wood Turtles?

The weather on our photographic weekend on the Jurassic coast was forecast to be mostly cloudy and unpredictable at best. However, the few of us who ventured out for a dawn shoot at Kimmeridge Bay were well rewarded. There were only 4 of us on the beach plus 2 fishermen, the tide was coming in and there were sufficient breaks in the clouds to provide a pleasing dawn glow. I hadn't planned to take this shot - I was making my way around the base of the cliffs in the hope of finding the Anthony Gormley sculpture that was erected on the headland but then toppled by a stormy sea in September. I found my route blocked by the rising tide so I retreated and set up on this rock ledge instead. I liked the way that the ledge lined up with the Clavell Tower and how the light played on the wet rocks. When I finished I discovered that my path back along the beach was also cut off by the tide. I narrowly avoided getting my feet wet for a second time that morning!

This photograph was taken whilst sitting atop a boulder at the very bottom of Katoomba Falls, in the Blue Mountains. The title stems from the fact that the wind would pick up the long drop of the fall above me (flowing over the base of the first big drop), and move the flow at the very base across the rock face. For example, the two streams over the rock at the far right - which I had been waiting for - only lasted a minute or two before the flow moved further along to the left.

Soy autodidacta, hoy en día con la cantidad de información que tenemos a nuestro alcance, uno puede aprender bastante.

Por cierto, un libro muy recomendable.

Crocuses are hard to capture because they only open in full sun. I finally found some at the nursery.

My good friend Paul (10 Stop) Farrell photographing Perch Rock Lighthouse in New Brighton, love the movement of water thrashing around his boots, again the use of an ND filter to get this movement which i think makes the image.

Not so easy with one arm

Anhinga catching some late afternoon shut eye. When I came upon this bird I knew the light green background would contrast nicely with the bird’s deep black feathers. It’s hard not to see this bird’s feathers as fur.

Fun facts: The Anhinga has several aka’s: snakebird, darter, American Darter., and Water Turkey. The word Anhinga comes from the Brazilian Tupi language, which means devil bird or snake bird.
