Valtos (from the Old Norse 'Vald Hus' meaning 'house of one in power') is a large and well-populated village on the Valtos peninsula in the parish of Uig, on the south west coast of Lewis. With a large and well used pier, it was, and still is a safe harbour from the unpredictable Atlantic swell off the coastline. The stunning views from the pier extend to a number of offshore islands and skerries.
With its picturesque boats and horseshoe curved shoreline, Valtos pier is a natural draw (no pun intended) for artists and photographers alike.
Having said all that... in order to get this shot, I had to get down and dirty with the sheep nuggets that dot the grass. This is a crofting township, and where there's crofts, there's sheep, and where there's sheep, there's sheep poo, in abundance :D It was worth rolling about in the muck. Those lobster pots provided just the right filter for the low winter sunlight
I'm finally getting chance to catch up on here and all the photo's I've taken recently are snowy ones... So here's a little snow for you.
Hope your all having a great week 😊
I was literally coming down the escalator when I took this. Added a grain effect b/c of the motion blur.
Poldhu, meaning “black pool” in Cornish, is situated on the west coast of the Lizard about a mile north of Mullion. Tucked away on the west side of the Lizard, Poldhu’s large sandy beach is a favourite spot for visitors and local families. The beach is backed by sand dunes, and a stream trickles across the cove. In the summer months the low soft cliffs are home to sand martins. These acrobatic birds raise their young in holes in the cliffs, before they head off in October for some winter warmth in Africa.
The cove features in the pages of the history books as being the site of some of Marconi's ground breaking experiments. A few hundred metres along the southern cliff (Angrouse Cliff) lies a monument and a museum dedicated to his work.
Poldu Cove is owned and looked after by the National Trust.
Ribbons (well, actually colored audio tape leader) reacting to the updraft from a small fan.
The total height captured is less than 3" (76mm).

Had an amazing display of Northern Lights on tour with www.arcticshots.is the other night. There was no wind so we got really nice reflection in a nearby lake and I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to test out a new light. =)
