Talukan Bazaar

 

Private First Class Nathan Rowe from Dog Company gives candy to local children while patrolling through the Talukan Bazaar.

 

Dog Company of the U.S. Army (2nd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment) has been conducting persistent and robust counterinsurgency operations under the command of Task Force Kandahar, in the south-west area of Panjwa'i district, since November, 2010. In partnership with Afghan National Security Forces, Dog Company has been increasing security and facilitating local governance throughout the region known colloquially as the Horn of Panjwa'i.

 

Operation ATHENA is Canada’s participation in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. The mission of Task Force Kandahar, the Canadian-led brigade in ISAF Regional Command (South), is to set the right conditions for sustainable progress in security, governance, development and peace in the districts of Panjwa'i, Dand and Daman in Kandahar Province, in conjunction with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Afghan national security forces, and other coalition and civilian partners.

La mission de la Force opérationnelle – Kandahar, brigade dirigée par le Canada au sein du Commandement régional (Sud) de la FIAS, est d’établir des conditions propices à la sécurité, à la gouvernance, au développement et à la paix durables dans les districts de Panjwayi, de Dand et de Daman, dans la province de Kandahar, en collaboration avec le gouvernement de la République islamique d’Afghanistan, les Forces de sécurité nationale afghanes (FSNA) et d’autres partenaires civils et de la coalition.

The KPRT consists of Canadian Forces members, a civilian police contingent led by the RCMP, Correctional Services Canada, representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and the Canadian International Development Agency. The KPRT conducts coordinated interdepartmental operations to promote good governance, assists the Government of Afghanistan in extending its authority in the province of Kandahar, and facilitates the development of a stable, secure and self-sustaining environment for the people of Afghanistan.

 

Joint Task Force (Afghanistan), Rotation 4, is comprised of 2,500 Canadian Forces personnel drawn mainly from elements of the 5th Canadian Mechanized Brigade-Group in Valcartier, Quebec. The Force, lead by Brigadier-General Guy Laroche, is serving in the Province of Kandahar, Afghanistan, as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). Canadian soldiers play a key role in the NATO-led mission whose goal is to improve the security situation in Afghanistan and assist in rebuilding the country.

 

Canada is in Afghanistan at the request of the United Nations on behalf of the democratically elected Afghan government, alongside with 36 other nations. This UN-sanctioned mission mandated the NATO to help building a stable, democratic, and self-sufficient society in Afghanistan.

Nosacītais pretinieks – Čehijas un Polijas bruņoto spēku karavīri ar kaujas tehniku un atbalsta ieročiem.

 

Vecumniekos karavīri un zemessargi bija izvērsušies divos objektos un to aizstāvība bija vienību galvenais uzdevums. Uzbrukumu sākotnēji aizkavēja Mehanizētās kājnieku brigādes 1.mehanizētais kājnieku bataljons. Pēc tam objektu aizsardzību veic Studentu bataljona kaujas grupa kopā ar Kanādas vadīto daudznacionālo kaujas grupu.

 

Mācības apmeklēja, ar brigāžu komandieriem un plānotājiem tikās arī aizsardzības ministrs Raimonds Bergmanis un Nacionālo bruņoto spēku komandieris ģenerālleitnants Leonīds Kalniņš.

On August 27, 2018 Latvian Land Forces Mechanized Infantry brigade, National Guard 1st Riga brigade and Canadien led eFP battlegroup Latvia personnel conducted delay and defence operations in Vecumnieki region, Latvia during military exercise “Namejs 2018”. The opposing force was soldiers from Polish Armed Forces and Czech Armed Forces.

Gatwick was a major European hub for the Canadian Armed Forces. Douglas Dakotas and Bristol Freighters ferried personnel from and to France and Germany while Hercs and Yukons like this were used across the Atlantic. Delivered to the RCAF in 1961, this one was sold to Zaire in 1974 and scrapped there in 1983

17. septembrī Gaujas Nacionālajā parkā notika izturības sacensības “Mountain Man”, kurās piedalījās ap 250 Latvijā un Igaunijā izvietoto NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes kaujas grupu un Nacionālo bruņoto spēku karavīru.

 

Izturības sacensību “Mountain Man” dalībnieki komandās pa divi veica 40 km distanci, kas ietvēra pārgājienu, nesot 15 kg smagas mugursomas, kanoe laivu nešanu un kanoe airēšanu.

 

Pasākumā piedalījās Nacionālo bruņoto spēku Sauszemes spēku Mehanizētās kājnieku brigādes komandieris pulkvedis Ilmārs Atis Lejiņš un NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes kaujas grupas Latvijā komandieris pulkvežleitnants Veids Rutlands (Wade Rutland).

 

Sacensības “Mountain Man” ik gadu notiek Kanādas pilsētā Edmontonā, kur tās rīko 1.Kanādas Mehanizētās brigādes grupa. Tā kā šīs vienības karavīri veido Latvijā izvietotās NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes kaujas grupas Kanādas kontingenta lielāko daļu, šogad līdzīgas sacensības notiek Latvijā, sekmējot kaujas grupas dalībvalstu sadarbību un saliedētību.

 

NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes Latvijā kaujas grupu vada Kanāda, un to veido vairāk nekā 1000 karavīru no Albānijas, Itālijas, Kanādas, Polijas, Slovēnijas un Spānijas.

 

Pērn NATO samitā Varšavā NATO valstu un valdību vadītāji apstiprināja vienošanos par daudznacionālo bataljona līmeņa kaujas grupu izvietošanu Igaunijā, Latvijā, Lietuvā un Polijā. Kaujas grupu izveides un izvietošanas mērķis ir veicināt NATO īstenoto atturēšanu un stiprināt alianses aizsardzību.
