Cable cars operate on two routes from downtown near Union Square to Fisherman's Wharf, and a third route along California Street. While the cable cars are used to a certain extent by commuters, their small service area and premium fares for single rides make them more of a tourist attraction.

The Becky Cable House, constructed in 1879. This building, adjacent to the Cable Mill, was initially used by Leason Gregg as a general store. In 1887, he sold it to John Cable's spinster daughter, Rebecca Cable (1844–1940). A Cable family tradition says that Rebecca never forgave her father and refused to marry after her father broke off one of her childhood romances. Various buildings have been moved from elsewhere in the cove and placed near the Cable mill, including a barn, a carriage house, a chicken coop, a molasses still, a sorghum press, and a replica of a blacksmith shop.
A shot of the Powell St. Cable Car Turntable. Operators must get out when they reach the end of the line to manually push the car about 170° so it can continue in the opposite direction. Once they've got it turned around, they give it a push off of the turntable and onto the other rail line.
Cable cars on the Powell-Mason route are single-front, so they have to be manually turned around before they can travel in the opposite direction. This is recorded at the turning station on Powell St. and Market St.
E-Brake Cable Guide - On left, acid cleaned and POR treated. On right rusted as the one on left was originally.
Today Jackie went to have the first fitting of her new denture so I took Ruby over towards Old Heathfield onto the shoot. There was lots to see even though it drizzled a couple of times. So images of landscapes moths fungi a bunny and also possibly a rare find of a helleborine a copy of the image has been sent off to have it identified properly.
