Cable Cottage(?), Firemore

Described by some locals as having been the Transatlantic cable terminal but SCOTICE came ashore in Gairloch.

This would seem to be the terminal of the 1872 cable to Stornoway.

The cable is said to still be visible under the sand on the beach.

A preserved Sutter Street cable tran at the Cable Car Museum

Reattaching the neighbor's cable. Still no power yet.

UPDATE: Finally got power restored 7 days after it went out.

They may be a tangled mess, but at least they're labeled.

I just liked the way the cable punches out of the wood

The King Edward Hotel in Toronto is undergoing some big renovations. This day a pile of carboard cable spools had been left out the back and made a nice subject.

This tower sat out over the port. I believe the right cable led out towards Montjuïc somewhere?

My family and I went to Genting Highlands!!

I can't believe that I could go up by cable car! It was really super-high!!

It was amazing!!

There's two cable cars on one track connected together by a cable that runs from one car, to the top of the mountain, then back to the other car. As one car goes down, the weight pulls the other car up. Half way up the mountain, the track splits into two for about 200 feet. The two cars pass each other at that point. There must be little to no electricity usage...clever.

Evening outlook on Cable Bay and Doubtless Bay.

The great thing about San Francisco is that there's a million things to do for free around the city. This is one of them - an interesting little building near Chinatown, which houses old cable cars and displays the history of their presence in the city.

Visitors can see how the cars are made, how they work and buy little trinkets related to transportation and the city.

Not a bad pit stop for a morning walk.
