Rutile Crystals - A spectucular small cabinet specimen of the acicular needle crystals called rutile, mined in Brazil at the Novo Horizante mine at Bahia. Hematite is the black matrix. Photographed through glass, seen in the Crystal Springs Mining Company gallery, Hotel Convention Center, Tucson, Arizona. Tucson Rock and Gem Show 2013. Crystal 61 was a concept for a 1,000 foot observation tower, with a theatre and exhibition spaces, to be built for CIAM, an architecture conference held in London in 1961. This ad by the builders, Pilkington Bros, appeared in The Architectural Review, Jan 1962. I think this was drawn by Gordon Cullen who wrote and illustrated the magazine’s “Townscape” section in the 1950s.

Went to the Crystal Mill for the first time near the end of the summer. I really enjoyed the area. Wish I had more time to spend while I was out there but as it was the end of the weekend I had to get back to Denver for work. I probably will post a few from the area but definitely worth the trip and bumpy road to get there.

An absolutely wonderful young lady from Nanning, living in Vancouver
She was sweet, smart, incredibly hard-working, a ferociously protective mom...if there is an example of how good people come to Vancouver and be successful, Crystal is it....
The crystal ball atop Evil-Lyn's scepter is a dark relic she stole years ago from the Faceless One. It responds only to her wishes and her bond with it is so unique that she needs only think of who or what she wishes to see. The orb gives her nearly limitless sight over all Eternia. Anything that is not protected by the Soreceress of Castle Grayskull's good magic that is.
Nevertheless it serves it purpose well here as Evil-Lyn gazes into the crystal ball and sees Trap Jaw and Trii-Klops are returning with Man-At-Arms. Skeletor will be most pleased.

Crystal Castles @ Trädgårn 2013 03 04 in Sweden. This was shoot with my smartphone Sony, a picture when Alice Gross is stagediving and the crowd is holding her up.
My son got a crystal growing kit for Christmas. We recently made crystals. To make them, you leave rocks in a special crystal growing solution for two weeks and the crystals grow. The crystal solution is very toxic apparently (perfect for kids) in that you're not supposed to use the pot you cook the solution in for any other purpose. Anyway, he grew lots of crystals and they turned out to look pretty cool.
