Not a comment on my sad life. My wife was there too, saying "can't you put the camera down for a minute".

Neither of us likes to cook.

Comments & Faves are both appreciated, but if you'd comment after fav-ing, it would mean alot to me, beccause feedback means a little bit more to me than favourites. Thank you. :)

So basically this is how I would see myself as Robin. :D

I wish I'd have flesh sleeves, but sadly I don't, cuz I'm bad at painting...

This Fig is based off nearly all of the Robins.

Fighting Stick = Tim Drake.

Sleeves = Jason Todd/ Dick Grayson.

Black Hood = Damian Wayne.

etc. etc.

Credit for the Staff desing goes to my good friend TheMooseFigs. :)

So like I said, this is kinda me as Robin. :)

Oh and I'd like to start a bandwagon with this, y'know, you make a Robin based off yourself, or - like what I did - how you would like to see yourself as Robin. For example: I have dark blonde hair, and not black, but I always wanted black. ;)

Hope you like it. :)

Many thanks for your visits, faves and comments. Cheers.

....from a walk through Oxley Creek Common. Oxley Creek Common is home to a remarkable variety of birds. An experienced observer can find as many as 70 species in one hour of observation during the spring about 10% of all Australia's bird species and several times the diversity one could find walking the suburbs. In the past eleven years over 190 species have been recorded on the Common. (Source: University of Queensland)

Olive-backed Oriole

Scientific Name: Oriolus sagittatus

Description: The Olive-backed Oriole is part of a worldwide family, of which Australia has two other members (the Yellow Oriole and the Figbird). Males and females have an olive-green head and back, grey wings and tail, and cream underparts, streaked with brown. They both have a bright red eye and reddish beak. Females can be distinguished from males by a paler bill, duller-green back, and an extension of the streaked underparts up to the chin.

Similar species: Olive-backed Orioles have a reddish bill, which easily distinguishes the species from the similar Figbird Sphecotheres viridis, which has a blackish bill. It also lacks the Figbird's bare eye skin and has red rather than dark eyes. The Yellow Oriole O. flavocinctus is generally more yellow overall.

Distribution: The Olive-backed Oriole occurs across coastal regions of northern and eastern Australia from the Kimberley region in Western Australia, right around the east coast to Adelaide in South Australia.

Habitat: The Olive-backed Oriole lives in forests, woodlands and rainforests, as well as well-treed urban areas, particularly parks and golf courses.

Seasonal movements: Sedentary in the north of its range, but appears to be a summer migrant to the more southern part of its range. Small groups undertake nomadic movements, following fruiting trees during the autumn and winter.

Feeding: Olive-backed Orioles are less gregarious than Figbirds, with which they are often seen foraging. Although they are sometimes seen in small groups, particularly in autumn and winter, they more often occur alone or in pairs, feeding on insects and fruit in canopy trees.

Breeding: The female Olive-backed Oriole builds a cup-shaped nest which is attached by its rim to a horizontal fork on the outer-edge of the foliage of a tree or tall shrub. Nests are usually around 10 m above the ground, and built of strips of bark and grass, bound with spider web. The male does not build the nest, or incubate the eggs, but he feeds the young after the eggs hatch.

Calls: Repeated, rolling 'ori-ori-oriole'. Olive-backed Orioles are excellent mimics of other birds, and are also 'ventriloquists', meaning they can 'throw' their voices to sound like they are calling from somewhere else.

Comments Greatly Appreciated,

Jupiter, Antares and Mars all line up across the scene while the Milky Way rises behind Delicate Arch. Delicate Arch is always the highlight for our students in our workshops. It's always fun to hike up in the dark and then back down at sunrise. If you have never experienced the night from this vantage point, I highly recommend you put it on your bucket list. Join a group, go with friends or whatever it takes. It's really a magical scene.

This image is made from 20 single exposures all stacked and aligned to create an almost noise free image.

Got the new teen titans figures wanted to re-create my old teen titans photo with updated figures. really like the outcome

Left To Right

Beast Boy: More or less the official figure, but I changed the crotch piece from purple to black, and it looks way better!

Starfire: I'll be honest, I didn't love the official figure. Mainly that her hair was the wrong color, so I gave her dark red instead.

Robin: my Dick Grayson Robin I posted a bit ago. Thought about posting Nightwing instead, but I thought this robin design worked really well with this bunch.

Cyborg: Not to much has changed with him. Still looks great.

Raven: The only one who has yet to appear as an official Lego figure. Her cape/hood is cape madness. The torso and legs are new as well.

White-plumed Honeyeater (landscape version)

Scientific Name: Lichenostomus penicillatus

Description: The White-plumed Honeyeater is a medium-sized honeyeater with a slightly down-curved bill. It is yellowish-olive to grey above, pale brown-grey below, with a yellowish head and a distinctive white neck-plume, giving the bird its name. The males are slightly larger but the sexes are otherwise similar. Young are duller, with much less distinct plumes and a paler bill. Usually gregarious and seen constantly moving from tree to tree with rapid darting movements.

Similar species: The only honeyeater with a white neck-plume, the White-plumed Honeyeater may only be confused at a distance with other similarly sized plumedLichenostomus honeyeaters such as the Yellow-plumed, Yellow-tinted, Fuscousand Grey-fronted Honeyeaters.

Distribution: Endemic to mainland Australia, the White-plumed Honeyeater is found found everywhere except in the tropical north, Cape York Peninsula and the most arid areas. Originally a 'straggler' to Sydney until the 1940s, it is now very common and well-established, and has also expanded its range into the upper Hunter Valley all the way to Newcastle, New South Wales. It may also be extending its range into south-western Western Australia, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Habitat: The White-plumed Honeyeater is found in open forests and woodlands, often near water and wetlands. It is scarce or absent in arid regions unless water artificially supplied (e.g. water troughs for stock). Its overall distribution is linked to River Red Gums. It is also found in remnant bushland in urban areas, as well as parks and gardens.

Seasonal movements: Seasonal migration from ranges to lower areas in winter.

Feeding: The White-plumed Honeyeater feeds very actively from leaves and flowers in the crowns of trees and in shrubs between 5 m and 13 m from the ground. Its main foods are nectar, insects (and their products such as lerps and honeydew), manna and fruit, with some seeds. Very strongly associated with River Red Gums. They sometimes also feed in the air or forage upon the ground.

Breeding: During the breeding season, male White-plumed Honeyeaters make several 'Song Flights' throughout the day above the treetops (10 m - 20 m above ground) while singing a special song, before diving steeply into nearby tree. Females build a small cup-shaped nest in the crown of a tree from 1 m to 20 m off the ground. It is woven from grass and spider web and lined with wool, hair or feathers. Females incubate the eggs but both parents feed the young, sometimes with the assistance of helpers. Two to three clutches are laid each year.

Calls: The White-plumed Honeyeater is one of the first birds to call in the morning and the last to call in the evening, with several songs e.g. 'chick-ick-o-wee' or 'chirrapo-we-weet, other calls and musical whistles. Also has a piping alarm call. The White-plumed Honeyeater is one of the first birds to call in the morning and the last to call in the evening.

Minimum Size: 15cm

Maximum Size: 17cm

Average size: 16cm

Average weight: 19g

Breeding season: Anytime, but mainly August to December.

Clutch Size: Two to three, rarely four.

Incubation: 14 days

Nestling Period: 14 days

This is how I felt last year when I was having trouble getting over a bunch of things that changed in my life. I guess this is in celebration of "the ghost" no longer haunting me. I am proud of myself for coming out as a better and stronger person.

Thank you dad for clicking the button and initially being my model so I could set up this shot before stepping in.

Please excuse my awkward expressions in some of the pictures below. It was extremely cold and hard to think about modelling properly.

This was inspired by my favourite Metric song, Satellite Mind.

Comment !

To be continued....

Comments welcome on what you see to choose between American and Pacific. Thanks.

journals.openedition.org/imagesrevues/2501

Well, today is my birthday. I don't celebrate birthdays, but Gemma made me this wonderful video of clips from our friendship since we first met in October 2016.

It had me in tears watching through this. So many wonderful, precious memories and great times. I don't know where I would be without Gemma. What a wonderful friend!

Had this image as private to use in comments but it kept disappearing in the comments so i made it public, hoping that stops.

This is just the wider angle view of taken less than a minute from a previous post but the mist was changing so fast it looked a bit different.

No comments necessary on this one, please use previous post

Brolga

Scientific Name: Grus rubicund

Description: The Brolga is a large grey crane, with a featherless red head and grey crown. The legs are grey and there is a black dewlap under the chin. Females are shorter than males. The energetic dance performed by the Brolga is a spectacular sight. Displays may be given at any time of the year and by birds of any age.

Similar species: The Sarus Crane, G. antigone, another species of crane found in Australia, can be identified by its dull pink legs and the red of its head extending down the neck.

Distribution: The Brolga is found across tropical northern Australia, southwards through north-east and east central areas, as well as central New South Wales to western Victoria.

Habitat: The Brolga inhabits large open wetlands, grassy plains, coastal mudflats and irrigated croplands and, less frequently, mangrove-studded creeks and estuaries. It is less common in arid and semi-arid regions, but will occur close to water.

Seasonal movements: Outside the breeding season, Brolgas form large family groups and flocks of up to a hundred birds. These groups may be partially nomadic or may stay in the same area. Some birds also migrate northwards.

Feeding: Brolgas are omnivorous (feeding on both vegetable and animal matter), but primarily feed upon tubers and some crops. Some insects, molluscs, amphibians and even mice are also taken.

Breeding: Brolgas probably mate for life, and pair bonds are strengthened during elaborate courtship displays, which involve much dancing, leaping, wing-flapping and loud trumpeting. An isolated territory is established, and is vigorously defended by both partners. The white (blotched with brown and purple) eggs are laid in a single clutch. The nest is a large mound of vegetation on a small island in a shallow waterway or swamp. Both adults incubate the eggs and care for the young birds. The Brolga is one of Australia's two crane species, and is known for its spectacular dance displays by both sexes during breeding season.

Calls: The Brolga's call is a loud trumpeting 'garooo' or 'kaweee-kreee-kurr-kurr-kurr-kurr-kurr-kurr', which is given in flight, at rest or during courtship.

Minimum Size: 100cm

Maximum Size: 125cm

Average size: 112cm

Breeding season: September to December in the south; February to May in the north

Clutch Size: 2 eggs

Incubation: 32 days
