The Next-Up NATCAvist event provided a venue for NATCA members and activists who are interested in advancing their role within the NATCA family to interact and learn from NATCA leaders.
Former NATCA President Paul Rinaldi moderated a panel of aviation industry leaders on the #NATCACFS 2022 main stage this morning titled “Looking Ahead: Transforming the NAS to Meet New Challenges.” Panelists included United Executive Vice President Chief Customer Officer Linda Jojo, General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) President and CEO Pete Bunce, FAA's Management Advisory Council and Former FAA Deputy Administrator Linda Daschle, Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) President and CEO Brian Wynne, and American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) President and CEO Todd Hauptli.

On the morning of Dec. 8, 2021, Merrill Field (MRI) was finishing up snow removal operations from a winter storm the day before. At Anchorage International, TransNorthern 123, shortly after takeoff, experienced a loss of engine power and requested to return for landing. Brent Eber and Nathan Midthun, who was working as Controller in Charge, jumped into action as they heard TransNorthern 123 say, “Mayday, we are putting it down at Merrill! Runway 7 at Merrill, Runway 7 at Merrill!”
