The small rural town of Wilmington in South Australia has many fine century old buildings. The sort of place you normally drive through with out stopping, I took these photos one sunny winter's day.
On April 23, 2021, the skies over Oklahoma were riddled with areas of precipitation and low ceilings. At 4:51 p.m., N7108Q, a Cessna 172, executed a missed approach at Clinton Regional Airport (CLK) and requested another approach. Fort Worth Center (ZFW) member Kerri Fingerson (formerly Kerri Phillips, and currently at Boston Center, ZBW) was working the sector, and then the aircraft missed the approach again.
With only 50 minutes of fuel remaining the aircraft would be short on options if they failed the third approach, now with weather against them as well as time. ZFW member Megan Baird plugged in next to Fingerson, and together, their decisive action and clear communication became lifesaving.
For their lifesaving decisive action, Fort Worth Center (ZFW) members Kerri Fingerson (formerly Kerri Phillips, and currently at Boston Center, ZBW) and Megan Baird today at #NATCACFS received the 2022 Archie League Award for the Southwest Region.
